Emissives somehow stopped working correctly?

Okay, I'm at my wits end here. I must have accidentally changed some setting because I CANNOT figure out what happened. Emissives no longer function properly in Daz. They used to act as glowing light sources in my scenes. Now when I render I just get black objects that are only lit with... well, sort of the reflection of the emissive plane. Images attache. Does anyone know what might be going on here?

The light is shining, but only seems to reflect once. Max Path Length (Render Settings->Optmization)? Make it -1 (as many as Iray needs/wants) or at least 3, maybe 5 or more in a complex scene with refraction or just a lot of bounces.

Interactive only renders emissive reflections and it doesn't render emissive lighting. You have to set the preview to photoreal.

  • Yes, thank you Padone! That was exactly the issue!

For my purposes, I had to keep Render Settings> Render Mode> Photoreal

I found that setting the following surface settings allowed the luminosity to continue working as expected see attached screenschots

Notice the eye of the Cylon Raider in the background to the right of the character Chief
