Missing Files Error when Loading Scenes

Hello!  I know this topic has come up, but I couldn't find a thread that actually had a solution to the issue I've been experiencing.  It's possible there isn't a solution, yet, but I find it amazing that it isn't a larger topic.  It's possible that it only affects a few of us, but I know for a fact there are a few others with this issue.

That when loading a scene I get the popup that Daz is missing files, ALWAYS the same two packages (Genesis 8 Starter Essentials and G8F Auto Face Enhancer).  Sometimes saving that same scene and loading it again works, but then sometimes when I load it up and make changes to it I get that error even though it wasn't the first time I loaded it.  The issue comes into play when you use a render queue, because it stops the render queue completely, and I'm now more than 15 renders behind for my comic.  It gets confusing, too, because it's hard to keep track what rendered and what didn't and which light passes or mask renders I still need...  It's actually quite aggrivating.  If I could simply uninstall these two packages and never look back I would (I'm sorry to the PA, the Auto Face Enhancer is a great product but nowhere near the level of trouble this has caused).  I've now moved to different computers entirely, tried uninstalling/reinstalling a bagillion times, and flushed my library.

Does anybody have any suggestions?  With the speed at which DAZ files load, I've literally been spending HOURS a day (while giving most of my attention to other tasks) pre-opening my comic render files just to ensure that they open without this error.  THEN, when I finally start the queue and go to bed, I wake up to find that it failed on the FIRST ONE because of this stupid error.  I've attached a picture of what I see, although it isn't very helpful at all.

Any suggestions at all?  I have no idea what to do.

Happens to me often, as well.

I let Daz know through a ticket, but they weren't able to repeat the issue.

RIGHT!  I remember someone else posted this that I talked to, but I had a hard time remembering after the holiday extravaganza that I was away for...  I did a crap ton of troubleshooting, and I can't figure it out.  Sometimes loading/saving/closing and then queuing works like you suggested in the previous thread, but not all the time.  How is it only you and I and a handful of others have had this?  I had the same response to my ticket.

YET, I can repeat it EVERY SINGLE TIME.  I'm at my wits end, because I've gone so far as to move it to a completely fresh hard drive and the problem persisted.

I'm wondering if it's because I used the Beta and the regular release.

It also seems linked to G8F Auto Face Enhancer since it only started once I bought that product, then "spread" to Genesis 8 Starter Essentials.

We're not the only ones. People have posted in the main Auto Face threat about it, as well. sad

    I agree it's extremely frustrating.

OK so now this is much worse... I tried uninstalling and deleting the downloaded information and let it do the auto re-install when I loaded a scene, and now it completely distorted every single G8F expression in every single scene.

    Every.  Single.  One.

Not just in that one file, mind you, but EVERY one.  That means that the 300+ working files I had for my comic are now all useless because this stupid package warped all of the expressions.  The only way I can figure to get it to reset is to select the head and all children and then "reset pose of selected items".  Obviously, this means that all of my masks and everything will not work right.

EDIT - Luckily, I overreacted.  It looks like the AFE HD dial was auto-set to 100, and turning it down seems to reset the character.  I'll have to verify that this lines up the masks perfectly still, but if it is the only thing that was added I don't see why it wouldn't.

I need to remember that this really is a pretty good product, and although it's unfortunate that changes are coming through DIM that are affecting my saved files, going forward we should have some extra posing options for the face, which in the end is a good thing.

Ok, I'm done complaining about this.  I'm gonna get drunk, and hopefully everything will look brighter in the morning.  It seems there is substancial conversation about this in the thread above, so I'll just respond there as I work through this... I guess this one can be closed out, since it is redundant and really just me venting.  Ima gonna go take a long shower :/

Did anyone ever find a fix for this?

Wow this thread is a blast from the past!  I just saw it pop up as I happened to be browsing the forum just now lol...

Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is to NOT update AFE while you have renders sitting in the queue ready to go.  It's more of a best practice than a solution, though.

Just like with any product, if something got updated and it affects the default values for any parameters in any saved scenes, the only thing you can do is to go through each scene one by one and set the parameter back to what it was before the update and re-save.  It's a pain, but it's the only thing you can do.

In my instance, I just went through and re-set all of the parameters back down to 0, or whatever it was back then, and re-saved so that when I ran render-queue everything was back to normal.

The first thing that comes to mind, is when the user is installing content with DAZ Install Manager/DAZ Central/Manually but also logging in/signing in to DS, letting DAZ Connect inside DS to update metadata and check which products are not installed with DAZ Connect, and by mistake also letting DAZ connect 'update' some of the products.

If that's the case, there is no 'fix' as the program is doing what the user is telling it to do.

Not the first time and not the last time someone falls into this trap.

    1. If you do want to install your content within DS using DAZ Connect, there is no point in using any of the other installation methods as any DAZ Connect installed content is installed into an other location and DAZ Connect installed content will override any content installed by the other methods.

    2. If you do install your content with DAZ Install Manager/DAZ Central/Manually, do not log in to DS - EVER.
