(Lock) Difference V4 and V4.2
Yesterday I noticed V4.2 base in my library, but I never purchased her. I know for a fact that many people out there still use V4 as she's really well-supportwd character. But I don't know what's the difference between her and V4.2, I have some extra morphs for her as well. So my question here is: IF I decide to buy some generation4 products, characters, will they work on both versions? Including skins, clothing etc?

V4.2 is the slightly upgraded (rigging, maybe?), final version of V4, and usually when we speak of V4 we are talking about V4.2. I own one or two sets of clothes made for V4.1 and they seemed to work fine on V4.2. Pretty sure the skins would work as well.
Victoria 4.2 has been the current version of Victoria 4 for ages - since before Genesis (1) was released. 4.1 added the eyebrow element (as a bone parnted to the head), 4.1 or 4.2 switched from embedded morphs to the ExP system to allow more expansions. Anything that works for Victoria 4 should be fine with 4.2.
V4.2 is simply the latest update of V4. That's the version almost everybody refers to when they say "V4" nowadays as it's been the current version of V4 since 2008. Almost every product you'll see for "V4" will in fact be for V4.2.
The main difference between the versions was the way morphs were handled:
Not quite, friend of mine still has his original V4 installer, basically Vicky4 has the same setup as Aiko3, you bought the figure and you got a CR2 with a handfull of expression morphs and the empty Legacy injection channels, and not a lot else, it was basically a Lite Edition (LE). Buying the ++ morphs gave you a second CR2 (just like Aiko3), this is the one stuffed with all the morphs, you also got a V4 to V3 CR2 as well.
V4.1 was when they added the EXP morphs system as that was when we got Aiko 4 as she was the "first DAZ character" to use it, we also got the eyebrow mesh and bone then too.
V4.2 was basically just bug fixes.
Nope, sorry. Aiko 4 was built on V4.2, I'm sure of that. I still have the files too, a backup from my original downloads at the time (I bought her basically on release). Besides the product readmes agree with me on this ;)
There might have been a first version of Exp system with 4.1 though.
The smart Money is on Leana
The Exp system ia more memory efficient. instead of loading all morphs, can load just the morphs you want to use.
character creators used readscript lines in the file to loadup just the required morphs. in 4.1 they loaded the whole ++ set. slowed her down in the preview window (poser)
In DS only the morphs which are actually used (ie have a non-null value) are loaded in memory, even when all the morphs are available / injected.
Plain Morph Injection worked to save resources, the benefit of ExP is that it doesn't need a separate CR2 for each additional large set of morphs and small morph sets/individual characters are not fighting for a limited number of free channels.
ok thanks guys, I thought those were two separate figures. Thread can now be locked
