Rendering issue

Pertains to both 4.12 and 4.11.

I render a 16x20 item, standard time 2 hours.

Lately ( and this has not happened before and it is happening with varios images ).

The resulting image is basicaly divied into two sections looks like image stopped mid-render,

If I double the time 4 hours when done still division.

In attachment arrow up and down different sections.

In many years this has not happened.

Thank you

I've seen this also once, long time ago when iRay was first introduced (with 4.10?). It happened when I was testing a very big rendering, including a character sitting on a chair. I was trying with my 980gtx over-night. Somewhere during rendering, videcard went out of memory and switched to cpu rendering. The moment it switched to cpu, the rest of the image rendered a little bit differently and I coudl also see that brightness difference when I looked at it. I think it was in the middle of the image like yours too...

Problem is that this has happened with about 4 diufferent images, each one with about three of four renders each.

The renders on each was over three hours. Each scene is taking over a day and unless I use photoshop blur and smudge, renders

    are worthless.

Worst is when straight line crosses face

    Punching walls!

Thank you for your reply  Mr. Nukem,,,,,appreciate it!

The moment it switched to cpu, the rest of the image rendered a little bit differently ..

I guess optix (gpu) and embree (cpu) use different precisions to compute rendering. That may affect some shaders, in this case probably sss. The precision issue also arises with other bugs such as the black eyes away from the scene center.

As a side note there are precision issues also with dforce, in that you get slightly different results depending on the opencl engine you use.

This almost looks like a shadow like a wall or object in your scene in front of the light is casting a shadow.

Also, look for any unnessesary objects in the scene that can be deleted rather than turned off.

Even a plane that is turned off. Eliminate all extra items in the scene.

It could be a shadow coming from over the wall. Try lighting with a spotlight and see if this helps.

Change your lighting altogether, it could be a dome issue.

It looks like you have three texture patterns in the wall behind your character, a tiny crack where the patterns meet or a shadow of the wall could inadvertantly casue a refelctive line like this.

Try changing the wall behind your character with something flat, a solid color, see if the line goes away. Move your wall behind the figures further back and ahead see if the line changes position. Try moving your sky dome. It could be the reflective horizon line between your skydome and ground plane.

Problem has occurred, to date, in 5 different type scenes.

For each, differennt subject matter, different lighting, different render times ( 2hr, 4 Hr over 6 hour).

Always a straight line, part image different from another always located different section.

If the line occurs in top section, clothing. Photoshop can correct.

More than half time line is across face.

I have a question that I do not how tp phrase technically bot bear with me.

In a few 3d programs when you render, the image appear somewhat fully and gradually develops.

In others continuing slices appear horizontally and work there way in steps until image is done.

In years using daz the developing render was the norm, it seems recently the Steps is what is happening.

My renders are stopping or I am stopping them with an incomplete image
