Extreme Close-Up of Eye

Does anyone have any tips on how I can create an animation sequence that starts with an extreme closeup of a female eye, then zooms out or dollies out to a medium shot of the female character?

I have zero experience with doing an extreme close-up, and I don't know if it would work best to keep the camera stationary, doing it all with focal length, or whether I'd have better results by actually dollying the camera back away from the character.

Of course I can figure it out by trial and error, but I thought I'd ask and see if I can save some hair tearing by drawing on your tips and expertise.

Probably depends on how you want the transition to look. Moving the camera, the lense distrotion would stay the same. Focal length might actually look cooler, but that is pretty subjective.
