Product: Backlight, Hair shaders for iray confusion

Hello,

I am not sure how to contact this vendor, but was wondering if anyone knew how to use this product:

https://www.daz3d.com/backlight--hair-shaders-for-iray-

I apply it in scene, directly to figures hair, multiple figures. It does nothing. Just wanted to see if anyone knew how to use this before i ask for a refund on it cause it seems really awesome.

Thanks!

It sounds as though you have the hair selected in your scene, which is correct. Do you also have the areas of the hair that you want to apply the shader to selected in the Surfaces tab when you apply the shader?

I use this hair shader all the time It has a nice selection of colors and effects and has utilities for making light shine through hair more or less depending on the setting you choose. It is one of my GO-TO hair shaders.  Note - works on NON-dForce hair (as in NOT the brand new, latest tech kind of hair).

Just in case, you do know this is a shader and not a material i.e.  you select the hair, go to the Surfaces tab and select the appropriate surface, and apply the shader as oppose to selecting the hair and clicking on a material preset?  Does the surface not change?  Are you applying this to an old non iray hair?  I sometimes find that it helps to apply the default iray shader first in that case...

There is pretty much only one way to do it; the key thing is to note whether it is called a material or a shader.  Materials are a collecion of shaders applied to possibly a group of surfaces.
