move installed stuff to another location?

Hi,

Is it possible to move installed stuff to another location?

But it should be also correct available in DAZ.

I would like to move tutorials, billboards and hdris to another drive to keep only other stuff on fast ssd.

Under the precondition that there are 2 regular installed content directories / locations. Can I simple move files between them and DAZ recognize it and if necessary actualize it's DB,...?

I assume at least the following worst worst case would work, or?

Deinstall from one content directory and install zips to other content directory by changing install path in IM to other content directory.

Is it possible to change/switch install path in IM (for different stuff) several times?

you would also need to move the associated data folder files and runtime\textures associated files.

hdr images are easy to move if you load them up manually.
a preset has a path reference.

    and readme are easy.

if you have any saved files using an hdr,  it won't find the new path automatically

In Install Manager settings under the Installation tab there is a section at the bottom to add libraries. It should be as easy as highlighting the one you want to use prior to each installation and hitting Accept. Also make sure Content Updates is set to 'Install to each package's respective "installed" path'.

Edit to update Content Updates wording.

    puuh, thank you all.

seems to be some dependencies at  manually moving and the best solution is to deinstall and reinstall.

yes, I also recognized "Install to each package's respective ". It should be active.

the remark of referred files in saved projects is important.

that means references to products in projects are absolute paths - strange - I assumed that will be handled by DB.

I made the mistake of saving hundreds of figure assets/prop assets in a weird drive.  Always wondered if there was a fast way to relocate them...

DS just uses relative paths, so as lng as they were saved into a content directory on the other drive you can just move it to a new location and tell DS about the enw location, or move its contents to a current content directory on a different drive. If the location saved to wasn't a content directory at the tme then the database will hav the absolute path, so that won't work.
