"content updates" modes in IM?

What happens on updating with old installed versions of products if content update mode is not the respective-mode and current install path is another one than the origin path for the product?

Will old product version be removed automatically or stay?

Are they still on their old path or did yu move them, without reinstalling?

this is only a theoretical question for how this settings works if having more than one content directories and IM install path only directs to the newer one.

You could always doa  quick test if you have something showing an update. I'm not entirely sure of the answer
