Bow Tie for Plushies 2.0?

I have the Plushies 2.0 characters, but I wanted to add a necklace or bowtie to one of them.

When I add the bowtie (from a Genesis 8 wardrobe item) to the scene it is completely invisible. 

I wonder what I'm doing wrong?

Can you add clothes to the scene without loading them onto a figure?
