Daz Studio v4.12 new Dope Sheet Timeline vs Keymate Timeline

Hi,

Before 4.12, i used the Keymate and Graphmate plugins extensively to animate my characters in Daz.   Now I am trying to use the new timeline/dope sheet instead.  I'm having a little trouble finding how to view/edit certain keyframes like pose controls.

In Keymate, i could view the following key types:  TRSV (translation, rotation, scale, value).   Pose controls like facial expressions were considered as value types.

In the new Daz Timeline/Dopesheet, I have it set to show TRSOAH (translation, rotation, scale, other, alias, hidden), but I am not able to see the keys for any animation created using the pose control sliders.  I'm not seeing any option for showing 'value' keys.   For example, at frame 1, I  set 'Mouth Open' to 1%, then move to frame 60 and set 'Mouth Open' to 100%.  The animation is seen as I scrub through the timeline, so the keys are being set/saved in the scene, but they are invisible in the timeline.  The only sure way to remove the keys would be to do a full 'clear animation' on the entire figure, which is a little overkill.

As a workaround, I am back to using Keymate/Graphmate, but seeing as those products are no longer available in the store, this wouldnt be an option for those who did not purchase them prior to their removal.

    quoting Rob here

"V" (Value) was renamed to "O" (Other) because its new name more accurately describes its purpose - to toggle display of all of the "other" (i.e., not Translate, Rotate or Scale) animatable (numeric) properties; not just those named "value" internally (i.e., morphs) and not those that set a value (all of them). "A" (Alias) and "H" (Hidden) are new options that expose access to properties that were previously not available - both prior tools specifically omitted property aliases and hidden properties.

Provide a specific case, not a vague reference, that is reproducable, and I will look deeper into what is going on.

The "Mouth Open" property on the Head bone of the Genesis 8 Female figure, found in the Pose Controls/Head/Mouth property group, is an Alias (A) for the property labeled the same in the property group named the same on the root node of the figure. Both properties display, as expected, on the Dopesheet (and the Key Graph) of the Timeline pane when Other (O) and Alias (A) are active in the current Public Build (4.12.1.40). The current General Release (4.12.0.86) has a bug in this regard that has since been fixed.

  • Thank you, I think i found a solution.

I'm running the public beta build 4.12.1.40.

I start up DazStudio and loaded my scene that I had saved.   In the timeline, down at the bottom, it shows TRSOAH as the desired key types.   I expand the root node of the figure (Genesis 8), the only things that show are 'Properties' and 'Hip'.  If I expand 'Properties', all that appears is 'General' and 'Display'.   I can see the various transforms under General  (Translations,Rotations,Scale) but that is all.   No pose controls, etc.

Solution:   on the key type dropdown, uncheck 'Other', 'Alias', and 'Hidden' and then recheck them.    That makes node tree refresh and now i can see 'Actor' and 'Pose Controls' as well as the keys that i had set in the timeline.    It was just confusing me seeing TRSOAH in the dropdown box, but the timeline was still only showing TRS keys.

    Rob says

That additional detail - that it occurs when the options are already active and the figure is loaded (rather than activating them after the figure is already in the scene) - is an important one and will be further investigated.
