getAnimRange vs getPlayRange

In the "Scene" object (DzScene), what is the difference between "getAnimRange" and "getPlayRange".

Yes, I know, they get "The current animation range" vs "The current play range".  But under what circumstances would the two differ, and how would that occur?

  • It's possible to restrict the play range, the actual frames that get played or rendered, to be a sub set of the available frames - as far as I know, without double-checking, animation range is the total frame count available in the Timeline and play range is the interval defined by the stop and start markers.

OK, I found it.  The range of frames that you set to render in the Render Settings doesn't affect this, but there is a way to change the play range on the timeline.  Just had never noticed it before.

  • Yes, sorry - it was the Timeline I meant, I'd forgotten the Render Settings options.

No worries - learned something new about the timeline m

And you've probably forgotten more about DS than I'll ever know... ????
