DIM Installed Products refuse to work in Smart Content...always wanting to install via cloud

I have a few products that I have installed via DIM that refuse to work, repeatedly asking me to install them via connect despite their presence already in my regular DIM based runtime. I've shut DS down, uninstalled and reinstalled the products 2 times now, and the behavior is the same. They weren't appearing in Smart Content at all (even though they did exist on the hard drive where DIM extracted them) until I logged into connect and had it update the meta data. Prior to uninstall/re-install, the files were there, exactly as DIM had installed them.

I've had items fail to appear in smart content before but uninstall reinstall has worked for those in the past.

Any thoughts?

  • Are you installing them to the usual location, which works for other content? Can you see the files in the Conent Library under Daz Studio Formats?

Yep. I can use the content pane to navigate to the items and they work just fine. But...I dumped the sorted version of my runtime a while back under the assumption that using the smart content was easier...but, now I'm starting to think I'm not seeing all of my content.

  • OK. The problem has...sort of...been solved. So, I noticed that none of my recent purchases had the checkbox beside them showing they had meta data, so I did a couple of tests with those and nothing changed. I then decided to reboot (and let windows update to the newest "feature update") and after uninstalling and reinstalling some of those new items, the checkbox does show up. I haven't restarted DAZ Studio, since I don't want to interfere with the reinstalls, but I suspect things will be fine once I get those things done.

I doubt it had anything to do with the update to windows. Most likely, at least in my opinion, I was doing a render when I was running DIM to install some files and it locked up some process that was blocking the database process from doing the insertions.
