Oso Blendy crashing Studio

Is anyone else able to get the Oso Blendy shader to work in a recent version of Studio? When I bought it a while back, it worked, but now it crashes Studio every time I render or switch to an Iray preview.

I believe that it has been reported that this crashes the 4.12 Beta.

It's one of four custom shaders I have come across that crash the current beta (the others are the water shader from Terradome 3, the Muelsfell multilayer terrain shader, and OSO master shader 1).

I think that they should all work OK in the current general release (though I'm still using 4.11, so I can't test this).

Thanks, good that it's known to be an issue. I'm on the beta just before the most recent one (which I've heard has issues, that's why I'm waiting).

Yup, this is a known issue.  DS 4.11 works fine for the Muelsfell shader, but I *think* 4.12.0 versions are fine.  4.12.1 versions definitely have this problem.  It may or may not affect other custom shaders as well.

Unfortunately it's the week before Xmas, so things are going to be slow right now (PAs and Daz staff are away, plus end of year errands, etc) and debugging this issue is proving rather tricky at least in my experience.

Please do post if you find other shaders that this issue is occuring with as it may help us resolve it.  You may also want to email support with the product as well as the full version of DS you're using (found in Help > About Daz Studio).

E-Arkham: You might want to consult with Destiny's Garden. There was an issue with the IDG Iray Selectable Hair shader causing Studio to crash immediately on use. (Though that was 4.11 and not 4.12.) There was some specific gradient brick that triggered an issue in Iray; she mentioned that it had to do with something that nVidia had changed in Iray. She wound up having to rebuild the shader, I think.

  • Any update on this? Mine is crashing with both shaders  Oso Blendy shader and Muelsfell shader. Using Daz Studio 4.12.1.55 Beta.

Last update I've had was a week ago.  Still waiting to hear word back from NVIDIA to contact Daz after the onsite folks tried a couple of solutions.
