Little help about this product: Altern8 for Girl 8
in The Commons
hei guys i'm interested in buy this product but i want to know how exactly he works, this is a set of diferent textures or is just a shader configuration which make the "color change in the render"??like for exemple the color is blue but when you render become let's say red something like that?? if that variantions are textured then this product is what i was looking for
https://www.daz3d.com/altern8-for-girl-8
the same question goes for this product too
https://www.daz3d.com/altern8--skin-shader-system-for-genesis-8
how exactly works they "shaders" if they are based on "texure maps then it can be used outside daz if is a "daz internal configuration then no".

I don't have the one for Girl 8, but the Skin Shader System doesn't come with new texture maps. It uses the original maps that came with the characters. It's a great product, though.
iyou means the "girl 8 texutre map??? then it's just alter his color?? is that?? or the product itself come with some character and each one have it's own color?, for exemple if i export outside daz it will be exported with the current skin which i configurate?? becaue i'm work outside daz then this product is only good for me if it can be worked outside daz.
Yes, that is the way the Altern8 Skin Shader System product works. The presets for V8 use V8's original skin. The product changes various shader settings. I don't think it will work in an outside program.
hmmm then thanks one less product to buy.
Altern8 for Girl 8 doesn't come with texture maps outside of a couple of Duel Lobe Specular Reflectivity maps and Diffuse Overlay maps - it uses Girl 8's texture maps. The skin settings are for Iray so the use for the product is intended for the Iray Render Engine with Daz Studio. The Altern8 Skin Shader System works pretty much the same way - while it comes with a few surface settings maps, it doesn't contain any independent skin textures, but includes various shaders and surface settings options that are intended to help enhance the look of the texture maps that come with your characters.
but if you try to export to outside daz the texture which come with the export will be th "original" or the final one after you use the shaders?, if the texture result from it exported will be the modifed one then can be used if not then can't, if not asking too much you could try to test (if you not already did before).
thanks for the replays.
considering the OP won't be using any of the DAZ products inside DS, they probably won't see any benefit from this great product.
altern8 takes the character's MATS and gives you a wide range of options to change their appearance. but most of those changes come from 'alter'ing settings in daz studio's 'surfaces' tab. you can save the altered materials preset for continued use in daz studio, but how they'd show up if you were exporting characters as objs with mtl textures i don't know.
really, most of the cool tools you're going to find here were made to be used in daz studio. tweaking diffuse layer MAT files in photoshop might do you more good.
I'm not sure I understand the request. The textures themselves aren't modified by Altern8, just the surface settings. If you're not using Daz Studio, or a render engine that "reads" Iray settings the way that Daz Studio does, then Altern8 probably isn't going to be a lot of use to you (outside of any morphs and poses that come with some of the Altern8 products, like the face morphs and poses that come with Altern8 for Girl 8 and Altern8 Lee 8).
i was means to apply the shader to a character changing his sking then exporting int to outside daz, then look in the folder you stored him and look for the textures to see if the difuse still the same or it get changed something like that.
but since everyone saying which it only works inside daz then fine as i told 1 less product to buy
