RY Elysa for Victoria 8

The RY Elysa for Victoria 8 (https://www.daz3d.com/ry-elysa-for-victoria-8)  character has an "RY Elysa Fix skin DS 4.10" option at the materials tab that should be applied last (to fix the skin for DS 4.10).

The product was release before DS 4.11.

I am using DS 4.12. Should i still use the fix skin option?

    Thank you.

Did that. I can't see any effects so far.

I'm just curious about what it should fix.

Could be for the transparent pixel bug. Wasn't that fixed in 4.11?

I'm sure that is what this is about. 4.11 fixes this bug, so you can use the regular version of the character. There was an issue with chromatic sss in 4.10 that could cause them to have pixels that appeared black or transparent. This ONLY happened when rendering a figure without any background. If you had a background, you would never get the issue. This got fixed in 4.11, but 4.11 was released as a beta long before it was released to the general public. So some PA's kindly released their characters with a second preset that adjusted the SSS for 4.10 users who did not use the beta. So this "fix" preset only applies if you are still using 4.10. Otherwise use the other one. You can use it in 4.12, but there is no reason to.

It is possible, I stress just possible, that the fix preset might render slightly faster. Chromatic SSS is a computationally expensive feature that can take longer to process, but the result *can* be more realistic skin. (I say *can* because it depends on how the settings are done.) So there is a trade off. So the fix might render a little bit faster. All you can do is test it out for yourself. It doesn't hurt to experiment.

    Thank you for the explanation!

I'll do some tests about the time.

Maybe to fix the blue tint fix that was itself fixing an Iray bug.
