What does "This coupon cannot be used to purchase an item already owned at a lower price." mean?

When I get a DAZ Coupon Code it normaly has the restriction "This coupon cannot be used to purchase an item already owned at a lower price."
I have no clue what this is supposed to mean. Why would I buy anything that I already own? And why restricting me to pay a second time for things that I already have? Even if I would pay less this time than the time before?
Or am I missing someting?

Think about the famed Daz 3d 30 day refund policy. What it is saying is you cannot use the coupon code to buy something cheaper and then ask for the first purchase to be refunded.
I used to work in retail, and customers would regularly come in with coupons demanding a refund on purchases within the return period. Why that company didn’t include the same clause on their coupons is beyond me, since the whole point of coupons is to drive new sales.
I really hate to see ppl doing that...lol. If I buy something on Monday at regular price and it goes on sale the next day, that's my bad luck. The seller didn't know I was going to buy it on Monday nor did they put it on sale on Tuesday because I bought it on Monday. Hahaha. But you have some people that get angry because "Hey! I just bought this at regular price yesterday and you have the unmitgated gall to put it on sale today?! I want a refund!"
I honestly don't know what goes thru some folks heads. LOL

I had a realization while at that job: some people genuinely don’t care about what’s right or wrong, or what makes the most sense; they just need to feel like they’re winning.
Also, it’s “gall”. Gaul is an old name for France.
I fixed the spelling almost immediately. It's even correct in your quote of my post. Was a brain fart. I'm old...I get em sometimes ;). I forget apostrophes and commas too...it happens. And yeah, I know about Gaul :)

References to Gaul should be marked with an asterix.
Thanks for your answers and discussions, I was not aware of a DAZ 30-day refund policy.
I never go back to a store for a refund unless the item I bought is clearly broken. Maby that is why I could not imagin any scenario that made sense of this restriction.
If I have problems with DAZ products I contact the Help Desk and get is solved!

The refund policy here is really helpful because several times I've bought items that I knew would be a risky purchase--they looked like they might work for something I really needed, but I wouldn't know until I got the product into DS and messed around with it. If it doesn't work I usually still keep it unless there's no way I would've bought it otherwise and there's nothing else I can foresee using it for, but I appreciate that "it didn't work for my purposes" is an option when refunding.
