I think I know the outfit you mean, I was probably the 2nd. person who bought it because I still didn't have M3 back then. laugh Just bought the Tristan 8 Pro Bundle and an assortment of goodies to go with. And finding a G8 male pro bundle I'd wishlisted among the bonus freebies was icing on the cake. yes Merry Christmas to me!

Always funny how much people beg for male content and then... eh, the deal isn't THAT good, he's a LITTLE generic looking, not happy about that shirt, etc.

    Uh huh.

I'm one of those folks always asking for more male content, so whenever we do get something a small part of me almost feels obliged to like it... but that's of course not how it works.

Tristan is fine, in my very subjective opinion. He does add something slightly different to the G8 line up. But he's not for me. And that's fine, too.

+1 To me the base figure is well done. The PA characters are well done, too. I wouldn't buy the pro bundle though because aside from the characters it has zero items I can use.

Since male items aren't released so often I do also feel sometimes the urge to buy something just to support the artists who create content for male characters. But finally I buy what I can use in my renders ... sure many of us have bought content we've never used but if I can't even remotely imagine to render a product I can't justify the purchase.

I looked into my order history and I bought a lot products for male characters in the past days instead. So ... yeah I buy male content if I will use it. It happens that a lot of people like stuff that is not my cup of tea and honestly this is ok I understand this.

I have done renders of the add-on characters, including the one that is for G8M, not Tristan 8. That trend is confusing me. But I found both Aron and Buchard interesting. And the last two outfits. Smart and Suave and Socks and Krokz both behaved themselves. While I may personally not like to wear tight pants, I have seen young and middle-aged men walking to work here in Denver in pants like those in Smart and Suave. Both outfits exude a certain attitude.

I really look forward to renders from those who are so much better than I am. Once they are back behind their computers.

I tried to install Tristan 8 Pro bundle and his HD Add-On with Daz Connect. 5 of the products are not installed correctly and cannot be used. The asset icons are framed exclamation marks and trying to load a file causes an error message. I have submitted a help request. (I already tried doing what CS always says to do: uninstall, delete the remaining files/folders, update metadata and install again.) It didn't help at all.

    The bad product packages are:
    Tristan 8 HD Add-On
    Socks in Krokz Outfit
    Smart and Suave Outfit
    dForce Backyard BBQ Outfit
    Lennie Hair

I'm curious whether these work for any other customers who use Daz Connect, or if it is one of those things like the $2.99 sale that work for some people but not other people.

I have the same problem with Tristan 8 Add On. I haven't checked the others yet. I submitted a ticket and included some of the error. I also tried to uninstall and re-install.

I just checked and I also have errors with the same products.

I used DIM. I have so far only had an issue with the textures for Socks and Krocks not being 'found' when I try to Filter by Content in Smart Content and have a piece selected in Scene. Sent in a ticket. Compatibility is linked, so no clue why not being found in Smart Content.

Sounds like the files are not decrypting - in which case uninstallng and installing via DM wuld work for now.

Yes, DIM works, Daz Connect does not. This happens over and over. It certainly gets tiring, buying something and having to write help requests, wait days, and often be told, it works for them. Well, huh, that doesn't help me. I want to use what I buy, and I don't want to juggle two install methods. If Daz Connect doesn't work 10% of the time, and Cloudflare is so horribly unreliable, something needs to change. (I'm only the hundredth or so person to gripe about this in the last week, I know. I'm sure you are as sick of us as we are of all the things that don't work as advertised.)

This seems to suggest that those people should just happily buy whatever Daz releases.

    That is not true.

I said it before, quality is what sells, as is having a great deal. Far too often the Daz male release falls short in one of these areas...or both. It shouldn't be this difficult.

And I also said if Daz ever released a male that was on par with the typical bluejaunte character at a good price it would sell really well. It would sell because we have never had a character like that before.

  • Well.....I didn't miss this sale. I almost did, I was slotted to get DMaster's Face Enhancer for the male and female and someone suggested that Tristan 8 might show up as a Christmas present. I was looking forward to the enhancers, I have been waiting for the next new male base pro pack and I didn't want to miss it.

    Pretty much.

Way I look at it is its self-fufilling prophecy.

I got just the base and just the HD morph. I don't see the point in buying stuff I'll never use and there was next to nothing else in that bundle that I'd ever touch. I could have gotten a free pro bundle, sure, but I have all the males and I rarely use the females. Just more stuff I won't use. I thought the pro bundle content was pretty dreadful. Don't get me wrong...LOVE male stuff and want more, but that doesn't mean that I'm going to settle for inferior products to those available for females.

  • I got the pro and some add ons because I always do and it was cheap. Didnt need any free bundles because I have them all.
  • Tristan 8 - Side-by-Side Comparison. I haven't made one of these in forever. It's nice to have the time to do this.

  • I was able to use the free bundle opportunity to get the Centaur 8 pro pack. Now I will need to pick up Midnightstories' great scifi Centaur space uniform!

I decided to buy the Tristan 8 Pro Bundle as soon as I had finished reading through the associated offers. Three male characters, two of them HD, one of them with black skin. The cost was 30% lower for me, due to a gift card deal. A lot of nice freebies and discounts came with the bundle, including free Tristan 8 HD (making it three HD male characters), but what really made me pull the trigger was the choice of another Pro Bundle for free. It was a very hard choice, because there were several I would have loved to have.

    My personal tip:

In the end I went with the Sydney 8 Pro Bundle: https://www.daz3d.com/sydney-8-pro-bundle Sydney is a gorgeous woman, and the bundle includes two more HD female characters - Melinda and Alabama. I consider all Mousso's female characters to be some of the best looking fermale characters available, and Alabama was one I was definitely planning to get soon, as I absolutely love her face. The combination of the eyes and the eyebrows is a true masterpiece.heart

I cannot wait for the download of my newest purchases to finish (almost 17 GB to go), so that I can try rendering something.

I have the same plan lol. I really like the deal this time - great character and pro bundle with the added bonus of the free HD and G8 pro bundle (instead of $x of DO releases). Thanks Daz!

I went for Centaur 8, too. It was a pretty good deal. With all the bundles and discounts, I was able to score 107 items for around $1.62 each! Still, that was only around 14 gigs worth, so Watchdog's got me beat.

I bought the Tristan Pro bundle .. also bought the 30% off GC 1st ... Then chose Mabel 8 PRo bundle free... I wanted more older characters.
Tristan, like I said back there << doesn;t do much for me, but now I'm thinking of picking up the Auto Face Enhancer Genesis 8 Male(s) Bundle to maybe lend Tristan some character.

Maybe because I've always lived in the heart of major urban U.S. cities. The BBQ outfit looks very suburban and not sure if the socks and krokz is supposed to be American suburbia or maybe Europe? I've never seen that style of shoe.

OK I googled it and the real name is "crocs." Plastic shoes that look like the ones in the outfit. I have never in my life heard of these shoes or seen them! Who knew I would learn about a niche fashion trend through Daz lol!

You're from LA, right? Hollywood Blvd. is filled with tourists dressed like that!

I try to avoid the tourist areas lol. WAY too crowded! (And there are a lot of crazy people around that area. Apparently there was a naked homeless guy wandering the streets yesterday!) Not sure why tourists are attracted to that area, horrible part of LA, locals avoid it like the plague!

I like the characters in the pro bundle.

Interesting and odd thing about Aron: he uses exactly none of Tristan 8. No head morph, no body morph, nothing. That is, I think, at least the second time in the last few bundles that's happened. Zsazsa in the Jenni 8 bundle also didn't use any of Jenni 8.

I wonder if Silas used to be Leroy, and Aron got pushed because they already had enough content for that sale.

Anyway, I tried him with 50% Tristan, just to see. He got a bit shorter -- Tristan's height is in his body slider and not his main slider -- and very slightly less hunkalicious with a somewhat thicker torso, and maybe very slightly less abdominal definition. I think his face actually works very well with Tristan, almost as though he were built for that.

Also tried him with 50% Silas, just to see. He got taller -- Silas' height is in his main control slider, not his body -- and notably more hunkalicious in the body, narrower torso and waist than his default. His face also works very well with Silas -- maybe better than with Tristan.

It does sound like a possible extrapolation. Particularly given that Aron comes in two versions. Aron HD, and Aron for Leroy 8 HD. They aren't identical. They can both be installed and the files will merge, not overwrite. (Note: I'm talking about manual installation here.)

In any case, they obviously were intending this to be a Christmas day release, so everyone was on a deadline. I would not be astonished if there were some last minute repurposing going on.

    Thankful for a male. check

Wish the hair in the bundle were up to current quality standards. check

I like the pores in Tristan's skin. I've been waiting for Daz to start putting more definition in their skins. I mean, I have several Genesis 8 HD Add-Ons that have NO face definition (other than nose crease and slight lip lines).

I guess Daz figured, "Males don't sell anyway; so, we'll release him on Christmas when everyone's already spent their money." Cheers to you.

Where do you find Aron for Leroy 8 HD? I only see a product called Aron HD in the Tristan 8 pro bundle I purchased.

    The product library for Aron:

    Aron product library

Weird thing is, DIM appears to say one thing and to install another. DIM shows Aron for Leroy 8, but installs only Aron HD.

... "secretly an excellent cook." Huh. All-righty, then!

EDIT: After looking at the morphs in the data directory for both versions, all the files have the same names and are the same size. They'll overwrite each other when installed together. Texture directories are identical as well. Same about the user facing directories in Content Library.

As far as I can tell, the contents of the file seem to be identical. Which makes the 14MB different in packed size thoroughly confusing.

I picked up the Probundle and all the add-ons, but given that I have a 30% loyaty bonus and am paying with credit from Gift Certificates bought at 30% off, it put the Pro Bundle price at roughly twenty one dollars. The only Pro Bundle that I didn't already have everything in was Elios 8, so that wasn't much of an incentive, but it does beat a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.
