dForce on older clothing with buttons?
in The Commons
I'm astouded how many of my older clothing items can be used with dForce with almost no effort (YMMV, of course).
However, one thing I can't figure out is how to get buttons to move with the cloth.
Does anyone know of a good tutorial on this?
Thank you!

If you look at dForce cloth with buttons, these are attached with Rigid Follower node. And setting that is done with the geometri tool.
But in order to do that the buttons need to be seoarate objects.
So doing that for existing cloth is a bit of work.
Roughly workflow: seperate buttons as objects and save as new objects; delete buttons on clothing; load buttons; create rigid follow node and attach button.
Thanks, Felis.
Ah. Most buttons are only seperate surfaces, as near as I can tell.
I don't suppose there's a way to make an object out of a surface.
Ah very cool, thanks for sharing this. I have wondered the same thing for alot of shirts that I do not use because the buttons fly everywhere and shirt blows up lol.
To my knowledgem, not directly.
But in the Geometry Editor I think there is an option for selection the different surfaces and get the objects that way.
I have only used the Geometri tool limited, and would, if needed, export the clothing to Blender and do the editing there. Although you still need to use Daz Studio for creating Rigid Follower nodesm and attach the buttons.
