Is the point light that comes with The Uber Point Light Shader a lot better than the regular point light that comes free with Daz Studio (if you are using UberEnvironment when rendering)? What's the difference?https://www.daz3d.com/uberpoint-light-shader-for-daz-studio

  • Will it make the renders look better or will it render faster if I use The UberPoint Light instead of the the one that comes with Daz for free?

  • If I didn't post this question in the right forum, please move it, mods.

Only of use if you use 3Delight, it will not work in Iray.  It's been a while, but is this the ne that has 'torch' (as in flame torch, not electric) as a steeing?  If so, yes it is worth it, aagin, if you use 3Delight and have the need for the effect of torchlight.  Some of the functionality that was useful with it has been (drop off, etc.) by the in-built Linear point lght

Hm I don't have this light, but you got me interested:) Basically it seems to allow you to have a pointlight cast soft shadows, which IRL is impossible. Can't really see any other differences to the standard linear pointlight. Would be interesting to hear how you like it;)

Eventually I will get around to using it. If I have any other questions about 3Delight products can I just send you a private message, that way I don't use up precious forum space with my dopey questions?
