Does 4.12 render quicker than 4.11? 4.11 for me is much slower than 4.10.

Worried I'll experience an even worse drop than the one I got from 4.10 to 4.11.

Cheers!

4.12 has a new Iray that has been overhauled quite a bit (more than any other update). From what I have seen, most people are getting better performance out of 4.12 than 4.11. For me, it is roughly the same speed as 4.10. Like you, I also thought 4.11 was slower, so 4.12 recaptured that speed.

I see other benefits out of 4.12 though, which matter to me more. For me 4.12 just runs better overall as an application. A large scene would drag my Daz Studio down to its knees, especially the viewport. Just moving the camera around a large scene in 4.10 or 4.11 was frustrating. 4.12 changed all of that, those same scenes now run much better. So regardless of the rendering speed, which I think is better as well, this aspect alone is totally worth it.

If you are worried, you can try the 4.12 beta instead. You can install that beside the general release without any conflicts. And actually, I use the betas a lot more than the general release.

Also keep in mind that 4.12 always uses optix, you can't disable it, and it takes about 1gb vram on a good card. So if you have scenes that barely fit 4.11 without optix, they'll not fit 4.12.
