Dforce Magnets crashing DAZ Studio

Has anyone else experienced DS crashing when trying to rotate DForce magnets in the X, Y, or Z  directions.  I have tried to select a vertice on a dress and also on a plane, then aplly a DForce magnet to that vertice, but when I try to rotate the magnet within the DForce magnet control panel DS crashes and then just shuts down (DS just disappears). Any ideas?

I believe this has been an issue for a while. Just apply the magnet and close the dialog. Select the magnet in the scene and rotate it with either the Universal or Rotation Tools. You should then be good to go.

L'Adair, Thank you that did the trick!

Ouch!!!!!!!!!!  OK how do you keep the dress from exploding if you place more than one keyframe for the magnet in the simulation?

Make sure it doesn't intersect with the figure or anything else. It shouldn't explode just because of the keyframes; more likely the magnets accidentally drag the fabric somewhere it doesn't want to go.
I've also noticed "explosions" when you stretch it too much, although that also depends on the simulation settings of the cloth. The more stretchy, the more forgiving it seems to be.

Everybody knows that one should keep powerful magnets away from electronic devices.winkdevil

Sorry Esha I just now saw your reply, Thank you. So I am wondering if during the the animation if the placement of the magnets caused the dress to fold back on itself. I assume DForce does not handle self collision as well as Virtual World Dynamics in that case. So for example if I use the Dforce magnet to lift the bottom of a clothing item upward and outward from the character it will not cause an issue, but if I then key the magnet attached back towards the charcter the coth item will interscect itself and explode; Correct?

Yes and no. dForce cloth can handle self-collision but it may need more time to move the fabric out of the way. So when you are moving the magnet backwards move it slower (leave more frames in between keyframes) so the rest of the fabric can settle. Sometimes the movement of the magnet itself looks clear but when you run the animation the fabric creates a fold that then intersects with the magnet and the clothing will go boom.

Ok, got it! So, when animating Dforce clothing with magnets is it best to break it up into several simulations for each leg of the overall movement. For example take a skirt and simulate lifting strait up to a certain height allow time to rest at that position, then do another simulation for the movement back towards the character slower to allow the dress folding on itself. (Actually I don't think this would produce a very smooth flow for an overall cloth animation.) I guess complex Dforce animations are not acheivable yet.
