Hi everyone,
While perusing through my account, I found that a long time back I downloaded DSON so I could import and use Genesis figures in Poser.
However I never installed it!
I did so today and I'm completely dumbfounded at how to use it.... seems it was installed into my Poser folder as a script or something of the like. I have no idea how to access or use it, and Im hoping someone can help me out.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Steve

With the DSON Importer installed correctly (it actually places files in the main Poser aplication folder, not the content library) you will be able to install both the core DS package (to a Poser Runtime location) and the PoserCF package for supported products and load the Genesis 1/2 content through the Poser library.
Okay,
Although I use Poser 11 exclusively, I've used Daz Studio on occasion. I just feel more comfortable with the Poser interface.... but I'm intrigued the Genesis series of figures and I'd love to be able to use them.
However, since the last time I did, I've switched to a new computer, so I need to install my copy of Daz Studio. I have version 4.12 and Im not sure how the installation and interface between Poser and Daz Studio work. Can someone explain to me the steps I need to take for installation and how to get started using DSON?
Thanks -
You don't need to have Daz Studio isntalled to use the content that already has PoserCF files - and indded, even if a product doesn't have PoserCF fiels you can try importing it through as tandard fiel browser using http://d3d.sesseler.de/index.php?software=poserpython&product=dson_loader . You do need to have the native Daz Studio content files (specifically, those in the data folder) for the product however.
I guess I don't understand how I.... invoke the DSON function within Poser once I have the script installed
When you install DAZ Studio content, it has it's own content folder within which is a Runtime. Textures and Poser Companion Files (PCFs) are all installed into this Runtime. Once you've installed the DSON Importer to Poser, you need to add this Studio Runtime to your libriary. Products that have been designed to be imported into Poser can be found here, represented by PCFs. Most of the Genesis line of figures and accessories can be used in Poser this way, and most of the Genesis 2 line can be also (though there are more exceptions). As a Poser user, this is a good time to look at the Genesis and Genesis 2 lines as they have been on sale for very low prices.
When you've conformed some clothing to a Genesis figure with some active morphs, then select Genesis and then go to Scripts>DSON Support>Transfer Active Morphs and the figure's morphs will be transfered to the clothing for a good fit (as a rule, you won't need to touch the DSON script for any other reason).
You should also look to other products as well - the DAZ Dragon 3 can be used in Poser this way, as can many props, environments, and creatures.
Many of the products that are not advertised as compatible with the DSON Improter can be used with it by creating PCFs using DAZ Studio - though you can't be sure they'll work until you try. One of my favourites is the Giant Fantasy Snake, and another is Stonemason's Streets of London. It is worth noting however, that if the product can be used in Poser, you will still have to do a little work on the materials.
Other options are to convert the figures to a Poser native format (which can make some of them a bit more responsive) using Nertherwork's Creator's Toybox - but I would see how you get on with the DSON Importer first. Also, there is some free software out there which will make Genesis 3 compatible with the Importer. These options are avialable from other stores though, so I can't link them.
