Still struggling with HDRI dome/backgrounds

Purchased the Spanish Beach HDRI set https://www.daz3d.com/ultrahd-iray-hdri-with-dof--spanish-beach, followed those instructions: http://docs.daz3d.com/lib/exe/fetch.php/public/read_me/index/21981/21981_quick-start-guide-to-the-iray-dome-and-the-use-of-hdris.pdf

Still this doesn't look much like a beach...

I used the finite sphere Dome scale multiplier at 10...what setting am I missing?

i find every HDRI setup you purchase is set up difgferently based off the PA. try creating a new scene and then just load the actual product and then use the IRAY interactive preview to rottae around the HDRI till you find the right angle for your use. I don't own that actual product, but i have a few of their other ones and they load right up without having to mess with any settings.

Are you sure that is the right image you have used. That looks like the light only image, which is blurry, rather than the environment image which gives you a background.

You may be loading the PNG icon rather than the actual HDR image.   On my computer, the HDRI are in the folder E:\My DAZ 3D Library\Runtime\Textures\Cake and Bob.  You'll need to change the first part depending on how you have your assets installed.

Alternatively, in your Content Library, go to My Daz 3D Library > Light Presets > Cake and Bob and either the "DOF Compatible" or the "No DOF" folder and select your HDR image, which will come with Render Presets designed to work with the HDRI.  There is also a Utilities folder for rotating the HDRI, vignetting, etc.

(Sorry, I didn't see your last post).  I am glad that you solved the issue.

My original post (Try using a different camera.  Try disabling the DOF parameter.)

..OT:  How do you have an animated icon? I thought the forum software didn't allow it.

  • Maybe it dates from before the forum software changed, or something.

Yes, it is old.  I am not sure if it is not allowed.  Have you tried uploading a .GIF image?

Animated avatars from before the change over work, but it is not possible to upload new ones.
