adjusting the bias dial in uberenvironment parameters will get rid of the grid lines, It's dependant on where the camera is so difficult to have any one default setting that's perfect.

    thanks

Thanks for the explanation, Stonemason. I did not know that. Something new I have learned.
Increasing Shadow Bias in UE to 0.5 got rid off the grid lines on the sky.

Did you add the water or is it included in the set? If you added it may I ask how, I have trouble getting water to look very good.

these sets look great but I have a suggestion, a third set and/or a skybox with an abandoned city surrounding, (maybe something for flipmode :) ) I will ask him :)

to get a good match with the water that comes with the set I'd just load a plane primitive and copy the material settings over from the existing water

that would be cool for wide range renders

You need a few burned out buildings, or a burned out block to go with your various ruined sets, it would mix well, I think. No working fire departments in the post-apocalypse, or at least I wouldn't think so.

...would be cool to see a couple newer abandoned buildings (1960s & later) as well to mix in with the old.

Also love to see some European city ruins and abandoned buildings as well.

A beautiful render! Thanks for posting this and the other cleaned-up ones. Like Subtropic Pixel I get depressed by all the burnt-out destroyed stuff (Beat-up and worn-out are fine with me.) These two have been sitting in my cart for two days and maybe I will actually buy them now. :)

what would be cool is a product with more seperate plants or a plant package with bushes and entwined plants like ivy and so you use in your sets.

If nature would defend itself...RECAPTURE would be the result

the plants are from the sets "abandonet city 1+2" and also by AM "Nature Tree Pack 1" and Dinoraul (the two bushes in the front) from "DRTreeSet201203" at renderosity but these bushes causes relatively high rendertimes especially if you use ray traced shadow with bias at 0.1 like I do. The overall shading rate was at 0.5 and rendertime of this images was about 90 minutes.

Part of why we are attracted to this new world of StoneMason must be that our city looked like it .. a bit in the 1970's and 1980's when we were young

Part of the city was broken down and replaced by modern things
Part of the city was renovated and restored to it's old glorie

The fun thing is that the part that returned to it's old glorie is now the richest part of town
and where they demolished and broke down to replace by modern things, it is still a no go area.

It teached the city-government well. Some modern things might be broken down and replaced by 19th century style beauty again.

well it is like all these new sky scrapers they build everywhere in the world...ugly buildings if it is the Burj Khalifa or the Petronas Towers or all the other buildings...to clean...no soul and I will never understand people traveling to Dubai just to visit the Burj Khalifa...stupid

...my old hometown of Milwaukee WI has quite a few nice old buildings left, many that show the European roots of the city. The sad thing is they razed the old Pabst Building (which was the first skyscraper in the city) before the restoration "boom" caught steam and replaced it with one of those modern "Neo Retro" towers.

The city hall there (which for the first four years after it's completion was the tallest habitable building in the nation) has been nicely restored.

    Greetings,
There is an aching bittersweetness to one of the buildings being named the Majestic, given its state. It calls to mind Ozymandius...

On a more prosaic note I am in awe of how fast and gorgeous this set renders. I'm sure there are lessons in there for my own lighting, but it amazes me how quickly it renders given the apparent complexity of the scene.

My one regret is that the door on the roof doesn't open. I'd placed a lady atop the Majestic, looking out wistfully, holding on to the sign, and wanted to have the door partly open behind her, but it would not budge. :)

It's an amazing set and, like other Stonemason sets, I imagine I'll be finding nooks and crannies to tell little stories for ages to come. Thanks very much!

I love having new toys to play with, so its no surprise that I wanted to bag myself a nice new post-apocalypse city street. I'm working on a bigger render which incorporates urban sprawl 1+2 into the mix as well. I'll share it once I'm happy with it (or at least, a lot happier than I am currently :p). For now, here's a quick render I put together using the default lighting.

the old Pabst Building looks fantastic
    Sad that it is gone..

would be TOP if one day people like StoneMason found the time to recreate such buildings...
It is a LOT of detail. but that is why they were and are beloved.. such buidings

but it is also the reason why they do not build (so much) like that anymore in the real world

    Too expensive...

The image name = "a walk in the park"

19th century living-blocks, narrow Streets and a park for all.
so people can relax a bit.
