My Google Fu temporarily failed me but I've now found the answer to my question.

So this thread is now officially abandoned

Now that I have contributed a comment...I will gladly abandon this thread. Should I receive any confirmation that this thread has been updated, I shall immediate delete the email. With any luck, curiosity will not get the better of me and I will never return.

    his sister replied
"I do not think my Rhianna style undercut willl really suit your ZZ top beard but go ahead try anyway!"

    I accept your challenge!

    Digital unreality
    The final fatality
A sight of what isn't there
    How come so many care
    For what never was
    Is it only because
    Of the nudity
    A general prudity
    A stagnant morality
    Makes us eschew reality
    Retreat into a scene
    On a computer screen
    A place where we hide
    Never going outside
    Not seeing the sky
    Not knowing to cry
For all that we have lost
    That terrible cost
    Of digital unreality
    The final fatality

Ooh, that would make an adequate Rap "song". Mostly three word phrases. Just pronounce the three syllable words with only two syllables and you've got it. :-s

It appears the abandoned thread has now been found and is currently being cared for. We are trying to trace the initial owner of the thread as we may press charges, depending on a psychological evaluation of the thread.

Through our experience, most creators create their creations through their passion for creativity, as created in the initial thread. Until the owner of such a thread is located and the evaluation period begins... 'I'... as in... 'We'... need... 'you'... to help...'us' to find and isolate their shoes.

Please keep this in mind for future reference as you will help keep delays to a minimum.

I as in we shall conduct an evaluation shortly.

    Thank you.

What this thread really needs is a cat antidote. Here's a picture I took at Blackpool Zoo a while back:

...actually there were certain people in the ancient Polynesian culture who could look at the waves and determine where land was. This was a skill that was handed down through generations but is now lost.

I based the Skyrunners in my old SciFi story who could perceive anomalies in gravitic waves and guide a ship to a planetary system better than any computer nav system could do.

..and they didn't need a substance like "spice" to do it.

The Pacific to the people back then was basically as expansive as space is to us today..

Learned this from a Hawai'ian native when I was in the islands many years ago.

This is also why I feel a "mega space war" as usually depicted could not be waged. it would be more like the war in the Pacific, island by island.
