Pinning a joint

I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong here. Once upon a time I set a hot bottom for when I'm using the active pose tool(the bone one). I'm almost positive that all I had to do was engage that tool, select the joint I didn't want to move and then hit "F" for freeze which is what I picked. At the moment, it doesn't seem to be working and I forgot how I did it in the first place. Does anyone have an idea what I'm doing wrong?

Space is the toggle for pinning, as I recall.

Thank you Richard. Space did work. I had it set as F once though. I think the deal was that I had switched between workspace layouts. I think that might have wiped the hot key. But hey, Space Bar works too!
