wsterdan Thanks heaps!
This was so much fun to make thanks to FilaToon and the fast rendering with Filament, and thanks to Face Mojo for G9 which is what I used for the face movement and lip sync. I've got to put that last one to use more and test things out more.
Thanks for sharing your animation tests with FilaToon and Willow - they're looking good! I'm glad to know it's fun and a relatively fast process for you - I agree!
Can someone explane to me how to embed a video in the way all of you are doing it.
I mean with a picture to click on and then it will lead to youtube for example.
when i put the url into a video link I get just the url as a text.
The forum search function was absolutely no help.
thanks in advance.
Aki3d I'm not sure why your "before the invasion" video in your previous post didn't embed. I just put my youtube url in a post and when the comment posts, it turns into an embedded video. Let me try with one of your videos. I remember coming across your videos some time ago and watching many of them, and will just say your skills are insanely impressive. Chapeau! I just went through them all again. Invasion, Hot Rod Holiday and Ghost Ship are great!
This is Aki3D's fantastic "femme fatale (short film) 3d animation". Was this done with DAZ3D assets in Iray? Or was it rendered with some other engine?
Hats of for the soundtrack and all the foley work. The storytelling, scene, camera work and editing is spectacular. I always enjoy reading about an artist's background, the why of a project and the journey. So if you're willing to share more, that'd be very interesting.
@SapphireBlue
thank you for the nice words. "Femme Fatale" was rendered with DS (Iray) and Twinmotion (unreal engine) for the backgrounds (forest, streets etc) and some vfx in post with After Effects.
I've composed and played the score and made the foley. The idea behind the project was telling a quiet complex story without words.
The editing was very important for the story. It's about the last moments in the life of a man. Some scenes are real, some are memories and some are just near-death hallucinations.
I've used some old school editing methods from the film noir era which I like alot.

Aki3d Thanks for sharing those details! I'm very partial to visual stories without words - the experience is very immersive and meaning comes at you from different pathways. It's a fantastic way of telling a story. Well done.
So, don't use the insert link option, just paste the url in the post. (I tried it the first way - and that indeed doesn't seem to work.)
Invasion
Now it works. Thank you @SapphireBlue
In this video everything is rendered in DS. All the animations are handmade keyframe animations without any preset usage.
The sky is a time-lapse recording I've made from my balcony.
All these little micromovements from the soldier in the beginning have been very difficult without motion tracking.
A big challenge was also the interaction between the sky and the light which shines or not shines through the leaves
which is done in big parts in post with After Effects blending two different renders, made in two different light situations.
I found it the easiest way of making the timing of the light change realistic as possible.
That's a lot of work, @Aki3d! Also, it's really cool that you did the music and foley yourself. In Femme Fatale, the arrangements fit the noir vibe so well — piano, strings... really nice! Lots of effort, haha! I think that kind of thing gives a project a lot of personality. I’ve also worked on a project myself — a short film — where I composed the music and did part of the foley too (some elements I recorded myself, others came from libraries), because of that I understand all the effort you did. And I read that @SapphireBlue did music too. This is nice!
Very impressive! Thanks for sharing.
Hello! I made an animated short film called "Un Regal per l'Aina" (in catalan it means "A Gift for Aina"). The music is composed by me too. The short film is 20 minutes long, and I worked on it for two years.
It's not published yet but in case anyone wants to check it out, here's the link to the trailer ^^

Does anyone know are there mimic files for Daz Horse 2?
wow, very nice! Looking forward to the full release, thanks for sharing the trailer. What software did you use?
Not that I'm aware of. The DAZ Horse 2 doesn't have any phonemes, but you could take a Mimic .dmc file and edit it (it's a simple text file) to match some of the DAZ Horse's mouth morphs (there's "Open Lips", "Open Lips2", "Open Mouth", "Open Mouth 2", "Part Lips", different smiles (open and closed), etc..
You can also use the same morph at different amounts (e.g. 50%, 100%) for different phonemes to have some variety.
It'll take a little experimentationg, but it's pretty quick and easy to do.
it works OK with the default mimic file
I noticed Horse 3 needed a bespoke one though so whipped one up in Mimic Standalone
but oddly it's not working in DAZ studio, I am puzzled
on video you can see it works in Mimic
it probably will on the Cr2 I exported too
I can export a pz2 for it but missing many moves
Thanks, Wendy, I never thought to just try the default file.
Hi wsterdan! I use Daz Studio for the scenes, animation (timeline) and render (Iray) and Blender for create my own morphs and custom assets. I also create my own textures and customize the ones from purchased assets. Thanks for your comment, in two weeks or less I will upload the entire short film :D
Thanks for the info, looking forward to it!
@wsterdan, I never realized it was that easy to edit those mimic files, thanks for the tip.
@WendyLuvsCatz, I'll try the default mimic file first and see how that goes, I should have thought to try that first, thanks.
Just to keep the record straight, *I* got that tip years ago from Wendy, she rocks!
I got it from someone else but I don't recall who
I still find the Mimic standalone program much easier
Horse 3 however like many things has the morphs scattered between head and body so a bit more complicated either way
