I used to render a portrait ..which would take anywhere from 30 minutes to the 2 hour default limit ... one figure. 
Here is a quick one with 3 characters, some reflective stuff, etc ... 1minute 17 seconds with my new rig. Now to put some hair in there ... whcih slows down renders for sure .. and some background stuff. 
but this is very promising

AMD Ryzen 7 3800x
MSI RTX 2070 Super Ventus OC

    yeah ... they keep upping the specs needed. maybe I'll calm down someday and just use old tech

    WOOHOO! Congrats! yeah, problem is, once you have that extra performance, you start adding more and more to the scene and purchasing those really high end addons that no one can use other than the PA and those with baby CRAYs and before you know it, renders start taking hours and hours, LOL
