What is StudioCF?

I've been searching but can't find out what this actually is that comes with some products.

If you mean the StudioCF files that come with some products they are Studio Companion Files. They are included with some older products that were designed to be used in Poser. They usually contain materials that work better in Daz Studio than the Poser materials in the main installer.

They're files that come with lots of older products that are Poser compatible, If you don't use Poser, just don't download the CF files.  They're 'companion files'

I think you're thinking of PoserCF files. They are files that let you use some Daz Studio products in Poser. StudioCF are the opposite, they make Poser content work better in Daz Studio. There were also some BryceCF files that had scenes optimised for Bryce but those are a lot rarer and I haven't seen any new ones for a long time. Also, any sort of CF file won't work without the main installer.

Basically, always install the main installer, if you don't use Poser don't download PoserCF files, if you don't use Daz Studio don't download StudioCF files and if you don't use Bryce don't download BryceCF files. If you do download them the won't do any harm but they won't be any use to you.

StudioCF files are DS additional files for content in Poser format (usually materials).

PoserCF files are Poser additional files for content in DS format (materials or files to use with the DSON importer).

If you use only DS you should download the StudioCF but not the PoserCF.

Thanks all.  That's pretty much what I suspected.  Didn't install Poser on this system so avoided installing.

No. The Poser files are the actual product. There are (or at any rate, originally were) no .duf data files in the products of that vintage. Studio is reading the Poser .obj or .pp2 files to load the item.  If you only use Studio you *still* need the Poser runtime files. You do *not* need any PoserCF files. You may want to use the material settings in the StudioCF fies once it's loaded.

Don't think I have any Poser product files set up on this install; might have missed one but not a big issue. Not planning to install Poser on this system anyway.
