Dear Daz, I challenge you to a PC+ duel

What is this? Simple. I have somehow managed to save up some money in anticipation of the PC+ sale. I am torn between wanting to purchase as many items as possible this year (including categories I do not usually go after such as steampunk and scifi) and wanting to save my money [hey, we all want a better graphics card don't we?]. So the challenge is for you (or your sales department) to get me to actually part with all of the saved up money. I will announce the winner at the end of the sale.

HINT: I like the friendly competition of shopping cart jenga ... give me a chance to play and it will probably persuade me to spend more.

Oh, Jack Tomlin - you are a notable part of this. You have an even harder sell. I already own about 2/3's of your items ... convince me to go for more. For example, does the winterblack castle items all fit neatly together in some pattern or are they just seperate entities? Let me know how they fit together ... I will try it. Also, I am looking forward to some new hats ... ... ... you know what I mean.

Oh, and in case you do not remember me ... I am the one who made this image [one of my most complex to date]

Generation Seven Science Class

Oh, and Daz, thank you for a great program. It has helped me a lot for the 3 1/2 years I have been along for the ride.

  • Hmmm ... no response yet. I guess my challenge has not been accepted. Oh well, they would probably win anyway.

Maybe with the bump someone will see this now. I didn't see it until today as it got buried somehow. Let's see if they take the bait. I could use some more of Jack's items too

Well.. I guess time will tell how well you survive this years sale.. ;)

The Winterblack sets, are largely seperate.  You can kitbash so that lead together, but really they're individual.  They are however modular, so they can all be rearranged a fair bit too.

Well, if you don't get a response...

I challenge you to a Herring duel... We meet a dawn tomorrow on the Brooklyn bridge... bring your best herring if you dare... and NO carp!

  • Oooh a duel ... and I have not been able to use my red herring in a long time ... Wait, something smells fishy. Are you going to try and sell me this bridge? I will not fall for that! I am not sure I want to duel with a George Parker wannabe.

I love a good herring duel, and I realize that dawn is the traditional dueling time, but can I persuade you to make it a little later? I'd really like to watch, but I hate to get up early on weekends.

I'd love to say I just wake up, day 1... get a coffee.. and just go, right let's do this!

When in reality the weeks running up to it a little more frenetic. Day 1 routine still applies though : D

Frenetic ?!?! Are you sure you don't mean frantic, frenzied, fraught, or feverish?

Sounds good enough to me ... you have a purchase coming. My bashkit is ever growing.

    How about an electric eel?

  • I do not know if Daz has an electric eel ... How about a platypus?
  • mr clammr clam Posts: 707

They have an eel for only 2 bucks. A little retexturing will make it electric:

You'd need to rewire the entire eel to make it electric... in addition, you need to make it GFCI compliant and decide whether you want 240v or 120v and possibly add those European adaptor plugs... too much work, I prefer plain old mechanical eels.

Any themes this year, or is it a smorgasbord?

  • Did you hear the one about a herring, eel, and platypus? They swim into a bar and say 'ow'. Then they were part of the smorgasbord.
  • It is staggering to think that THIS conversation has almost 300 views. ???

Themes are always met with 'I don't like x theme'.. so we just go with the latter now.

My challenge is staying out of the PC+ club

once I get wooed back in I tend to spend far too much money

I'll throw in my hat and challenge how PC+ will convince me to renew this year (Last year, the deals were too sweet that I caved). Note that I'm not swayed by them newfangled Iray stuff. So, thrill me, PC+. cheeky

More than likely Yes. But, from past experience, it takes a couple days for a large sale like this to really get rolling. We shall see.

Either strengthen your resistance, or prepare for checking Daz every 4 hours for special sales, spend time looking for stacking discounts, find those chance encounters with glitches (far fewer than there used to be), and play shopping cart jenga - with a special emphasis on all of these at Daz Midnight ...

Personally, I'd recommend letting things settle down.. unless you like the excitment.  But usually all that happens are posts appear in frustration.

So yea, if you can be patient, then go for it.. it will be easier on the blood pressure :)

Not for nothing is it sometimes called the witching hour.  I think it's spooky when my colck says

Eek   it's no time at all.

That means it accidentally got unplugged

The 24hr clock at work was 0:00 midnight BTW not 00:00 though I guess it's possible. I confused everyone on the timesheet as I used railway time too writing 13:00 etc instead of 1pm

I challenge Daz to have specials that make sense. Buy three in this category to get one in the blue bin at 10% extra but only after 6:00 PM and excludes PC-Plus unless it was in a previous punch sale and the artist is not featured in a flash sale but items in the green bin override everything at which point your coupon is invalid and the purple banner can't be purple.

Isn't midnight the Ghostly Hour, and the Witching Hour is 3am? I have this information from a supernatural discussion board I browsed while bored at work though, so I don't trust it completely.
