no racer would put AIR BREAKS on their suite especially the helmet such as those cat ears.

may look cute but they are trying to say its racer gear the people who want to reduce their time by tentrhs of a second every where they can.

    A) I don't think realism was a particular focus for this outfit

    B) Aerodynamics don't really apply in space.

    C) The wearer of this suit would probably be inside a vehicle anyway.

"walks out of thread shaking head in disbelief at what people will complain about these days"

  • It doesn't have stiletto heels, a bare midriff or a cleavage window. (when full set is worn anyway.) I'd say it could be worse, and as has been noted, air resistance isn't a problem in space.

Well, NASA says that the moon is in the Earth's atmosphere (possibly to answer the doubt that combustion rockets could fire in a vacuum), so the OP may have a point. wink

  • A racer is not necessarily a runner

if she is in a small spacecraft racing other small spacecraft she is still a racer

pretty certain streetcar racers don't wear aerodynamic clothing either

  • The promo shows that Stonemason jet bike in the backdrop.

So the assumption is-  THAT is what they are (intending on) riding.

To be super-retentive, that bike has a huge headlamp that seems to stunt the front so it doesn't matter what kind of helmet the rider has. lol

Or you can always kit bash and use one of the traditional bike helms.....

This to me looks more like pin up fodder since there isn't one promo image of the rider actually on the bike.

And since cute cat ears are a rage, I think this is aimed towards sci-fi sexy fantasy, not a real biker outfit - based on today's standards...

You know, that sci-fi sexy thang.wink

Pin-up fodder?  At Daz?  Now you're just talking crazy.

Now this outfit I would purchase in a heartbeat, very nice!

Black boots and a leather catsuit? Really?

No you wouldn't. You'd say it was plain and could easily be kit-bashed. Why are all the vendors doing what's already been done?
No innovation! The only NEW item is the helmet. And ironically, that's the thing being complained about.

yeah the jet bike is another Winner by someone who has no idea what aerodinamic means. as for the cat ears the name should be pin up or cute space suite not RACER because its not that at all.

yes if you think the crap they dress up the actors in to make them look bad ass in road warrior movies yeah because having people hanging off the front of your truck makes it so much more deadly then sure this suite is for you but there is a very real community which does race in many different forums from cars bikes and other vehicles to man powered and others such as natural forces water air and earth and those people do in fact pay attention to things like not having big duck feet on a scooner  or a T-Rex skull on the front of an F-22 or the guy running a marathon with a keg of beer strapped to his back.

<insert sound of vinyl record scratch> <room fills with whispering in hushed voices> "Someone has spoken ill of Stonemason. StooooneMaaaason...."

  • Not to beat a dead horse, but I'm sure that group would pass and understand that a particular product is not for their use or taste and move on.

What's the purpose behind pointing out an unrealistic sci-fi product?

Do you presume a vendor will see your criticism and stop making sci-fi fantasy stuff - as if they didn't know, cat ears on a helmet was ...not a good realistic racing prop?

    Now I'm confused.

Are you just venting or asking for a change? Did you see the word RACER and get super-excited about a current-world racing product and are very disappointed at not getting what you want?

You could just as easily ask for MORE real-world racing gear and ignore this release.

    Me thinks....and does....

I do or did some sci-fi racing and bare-reality was , well, not considered.

This was my vision for a futuristic race event.

I wouldn't want to be limited by what works in this world or the real world when I design my world.

I know lots of customers point out deviations in historical craft [details matter] and used insignia and such.

I don't think this was meant to hold up to that kind of scrutiny.

But at least that helmet has a very large viewport/faceplate//// would be easy to see all around.

    Its anime cosplay, "Durarara!!"

Perhaps anime was a factor in the design.

So I'm guessing someone should tell Subaru that this isn't a racer, either.

Here's a link to their forum.  The people have a right to know!

  • I cannot get over given the amount of ridiculous outfits in the store why the OP chose to single out this reasonably modest flat soled one cheeky

    LOL!

I still do defend the flat shoes for action type outfits, even tho I know you're one of the ones that likes the heels. LMAO. Cat ears I don't care about ;).

I'd be interested to know whether you can make those ears disappear by judicious application of Cutout Opacity. The (very helpful) image of the material zones in the outfit suggests that they are separate zones.

Without the ears, that's actually a pretty nice helmet.

Closed - these discussions rapidly become acrimonious, with people talking past or at each other rather than with each other.
