Been a while...

Hi y'all!
Been a heck of a long time since I posted in here! Long story short, my computer died, bought a laptop, my at-the-time one year old ended up pulling it off the nightstand and smashed it, and I've been without a computer ever since - UNTIL NOW! Well, like 3 weeks ago.
WOW - I missed a bunch of stuff! Dforce, Iray, Gen8... So I've spent most of my computer time the last few weeks trying to basically re-learn the whole program. Got most of it at least moderately grasped now, and I gotta say, it was pretty fun to get to learn that much new stuff all over again, fiddling and tinkering with settings to see what they were, testing out lights and surfaces and dynamics. Good times!
How the heck have you all been? I missed being in here, and I certainly missed rendering and configuring.
Anyways, just wanted to poke my head in to say hi, I'm back, and lovin it!

You were probably gone before my time (I've only been around for about 3 years) but I wanted to say anyway: Welcome Back! I'm glad you're having fun with Daz Studio and it's new fun stuff like dForce, Iray, and Genesis 8. There is also Strand-Based Hair (which is tons of fun, imo), and the new "Face Transfer".
I hope you have a lot of fun with all the new stuff that Daz Studio has and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask - the community is almost always quick to answer questions and lend some help. :)
Thanks!
Yeah I used to be popping around in here every day for years before everything computer relanted went kaput lol
Really great community here - one of the best I've been a part of. Lots of help from loads of different perspectives - always something new to learn!
Iray is an amazing thing. I started during the beta for 4.8, I think (the one where they first added Iray).
We did a lot of hand-conversion back then because Genesis 2 didn't have Iray materials. Just the generic Genesis 2 Iray, and then you work from there. It was a great time to learn because you had to get into the Surfaces tab and play around with things.
Look for the Intel denoiser, also. That helps a LOT...

Even tho I've been a member here since 1999 or slightly before (yeah, it was still Zygote when I joined), I've only been using Daz Studio since 4.7 (just before Iray hit). Before that it was Poser.
Welcome back and have tons of fun :).

...welcome back.
Yeah had a less serious computer disaster myself as my library HDD went belly up which not only took my content library and ruintimes (including a lot of freebies that are no longer available) with it, but all my saved and in progress scenes as well as custom character presets, about 6 years of work. Seriously thought about just bagging it but this is the only creative outlet I have so got a new drive (a bigger one) and began reinstalling everything (fortunately Daz keeps everything you ever purchased in your content library even if products were discontinued).
Yeah, been around since 2007 (oldest installer I have archived is 1.8) back when all we had was 3DL and the basic lights. Crikey didn't even have a Gen 4 male, or child figure until just before the debut of ver. 4 and Genesis. Back then did all my work on a 4GB 32 bit Toshiba duo core notebook with an 80 GB HDD (which I still have and still works..well sort of).
