What is Metadata, and how do I create it?

[What is Metadata, and how do I create it?] The title contains my question.

If there is an item in my content which does not have any metadata, and it is useful for that item to have it, how is it created, what is required. etc.?

The metadata makes the item findable in the Smart Content Folder.

Creating it involves many steps beyond the scope of one post ;-)

Having done it a few dozen times, it isn't too hard... there are a few steps but, once you do it a few times, it becomes second nature... very useful for correcting misassigned characters and wardrobe.  You can going create metadata daz studio to find loads of tutorials and videos but here is a start: http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/creating_content/packaging/tutorials/adding_metadata/start
