Is there some way (beyond autofit) to add new character morphs to old clothes?
Draped clothing types like dresses and robes don't look right when used on an unsupported figure, even with autofit. For example, see the Trumpet Dress on Aiko 8 below:

The highlighted area in the centre of the dress clips through itself, breaking dforce simulations.
Is there any product that can add full support for new figures to old clothing? Or is that something that only the original clothing vendor can do?
Thanks in advance!

Anyone who is sufficently motivated can add morph to clothing :)
How Morphs Work in Clothing: Morphs get stord in the Data folder for the clothing in question. For mine thats usually data/Lyrra Madril/ Productname When you save a clothing assets DAZ Studio saves the morphs into this folder, each clothing item for the product gets a folder and in each clothing folder is a morphs folder. Every morph is saved as its own little file.
A) you will need to make the morph and then apply it to the clothing and save it
B) you can export an autogenerated morph and then fix it and replace the autogenerated one with the clean one
Your options for morph creation and fixing range from dformers in DS itself, Hex using the bridge, Zbrush, Blender and literally any modeler you can lay your hands on. I don't recall if MorphLoaderPro is in the base DS, but thats the best import-and-apply tool.
So yes it can be done.
....or you can apply smoothing, crank it up high and call it a day
As far as I know, neither.
The process of adding "full support" to clothing is too complicated to be fully automated without intervention (despite its niggles, auto-fit is actually already a pretty clever technology as far as that considerable challenge goes), but as Lyrra says above, anyone with moderate modelling know-how (not just the original vendor) can add morphs to existing clothing.
In this particular case, you could export the dress' shape as an OBJ to Blender, then either use a weight gradient to paint out the bottom part of the dress or just apply a smoothing brush to that part of the mesh to taste. Reimport it using the Morph Loader Pro app (which I'll add to the above - it's already in Daz!) as an "FBMAiko8" morph, test the fix works properly when Aiko 8 is dialled in and then save it.
It's a simple enough fix in this case that I'd be prepared to offer to make a fix myself (for one or two shapes), but unfortunately while I own Aiko 8, I don't own the dress in question, so I can't much help.
Thanks all, I'll give a manual fix a try then!
Apparently, Destiny's Garden saw this post and took me up on the offer to add some additional fits to their product.
So, this package is new G8 fits for Aiko, Alexandra, Charlotte, Edie, Ellithia, Eva, Gia, Girl, Karyssa, Latonya, Mabel, Mika, Mrs Chow, Sakura & Tasha.
(More than I originally planned to do, but I figured it was only fair).
I've not exhaustively tested these fits, but if you do find any glaring errors where the fabric is completely creased or there's badly distorted textures, flag them up and I'll try to fix them.
