I think it is well written, has an interesting world/mythos and Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevigne are acting wonderfully.
Except now I need a LOT more Victorian clothes, humanoid creatures, and steampunk sets for all the render ideas I have.

Don't have Prime. Won't be getting Prime. And not happy in the least I can't see this series! The trailers make it look amazing, and your OP verifies my impressions.

Ok, thanks for heads-up. I do not have Prime, as well, but looking at the trailer and reviews got me an idea.
Recently I have purchased Steam City (when it was on sale for 10% of its normal price) on Unity store.
Together with Cyber City will make great environment for similar story telling.
Hrm...we gave it a watch and both of us were SO BORED. It's SO visually stunning and I was rooting for it the whole way. Been counting the days and I was all excited. But I thought the acting and script were awful. Like really awful. I read the reviews and it looks like a lot of people thought the same. But then, a lot of complaints were about the language and the nudity when people thought it was going to be family-friendly ..because fairies. It's totally NOT. I have no problems with that, but it seems a lot of other people kinda sat down with the kids and got a pretty big surprise...LOL. I'll give it another couple of episodes and hope it gets better. Someone said it does get good like around episode 3. Here's hoping!

Interesting. I didn't make it through the first episode for the same reasons.
I stopped watching it about 3/4 through, it was just too much information to take in at once. All those odd names and places, and plot details. I'll probably go back and pick up where I left off and try the next few episodes or so. But my brain needed a break. Too much, too fast.
But the plot is unsurprisingly familiar. Good cop protects poor, outcast people from bad government, bigotry and corporate corruption.
No story is new. Only 10 thousand years and we've said it all, over and over and over and .... Heck, the Greeks, Shakespeare and Dickens covered most of it. Cinema and televsion beat it to death.
I have prime hubby & I watched it last night , the story was a little slow, But the visuals were pretty good. I got was pretty distracted & I went to work on my daz animation instead.. my hubby did watch the whole thing through and said he was disappointed in it.. So we properly won't be watching the rest of the season episodes.
IMO It surely did not live up to all the hype that was played before it was released.
I am defiantly looking forward to season 3 of Marvels TV series The Runaways o Hulu Dec 13 . we really enjoyed that series.

I just finished the whole first season. And I loved the little twists and turns in the plotting of it. The last two episodes in particular were full of surprises. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
The CGI/Costumes/Cinematography were top notch but the story and execution are abysmal.
The illogical plots to a lot of the story is unforgivable. For example, Fae folk that can fly are actually running away from soldiers and allowing themselves to be shot. Just fly away, damn it! LOL
Also, way too much contemporary politics.
Who knows,.maybe I will like it better at a later date. I did that with GOT...and Vikings. Couldn't get into them at first and then later I turned out to LOVE both. I wasn't confused at all the info or plot twists on this one, although that's what made stuff like GOT really good. Or Umbrella Academy as well. On GOT there was just a LOT of characters at first. Tonight we watched Rocketman and it was just brilliantly done. Best movie I've seen in a LONG time.
If you're referring to the opening sequence then they couldn't fly away because there was a mesh of barbed wire strung between the trees a few feet above head height, if you're referring to something else then my mistake as I've so far only watched the opening episode.
As for my thoughts, I'm a little undecided, will give a few more episodes a try and see how it goes. Not quite what I was expecting I must admit, the 'adult' nature of the show was a little unexpected and not very clear from the trailers but it's not over the top & doesn't bother me.Visually it's impressive but the plot is a bit tired and bit close to home politically at the present time. One of my first thoughts was that it's a fantasy version of Ripper Street, not really a bad thing in my mind but hardly original.
Yes, but they could have flown straight for the cliff as it was so high-up in the trees. A much better device could have been had for that scene and a better escape plan.

Another example from the opening scene is when the protagonist kills a dog-beast meaner than a Rottweiler with her bare hands. When did we ever see any person tackle a Rottweiler and kill it with their bare hands, or even a hound-dog that was chasing them? Unless that was explained away by some plot device that I missed?

And that's just the opening scene. There is so much I can get into but I would just spoil it for anyone that hasn't seen it.
So you have flying people with the strength to kill such a beast with their bare hands and are losing a war? It just doesn't work on so many levels for me.
Just wait for the "Everything Wrong with Carnival Row in XX Minutes" videos start to appear on Youtube. They are going to have a blast with this series.
Those upset with the adult nature should consider that the Fae are often not nice; that fairy tales are brutal, and not what Disney has turned them into: too often, a wish-washy, lacklustre, money-grab.
"Ripper Street". THAT's what I was trying to think of. Yeah, a replay of Ripper Street, but with fairies. Although I did go back and finish watching the 1st episode and hook at the end makes me want to go back to learn more about the evil in the dark.
Watched one and a half episodes last night (then it got too late).
I'm undecided - love the visual style of it and the potential for greater things plot-wise. The acting is variable and the plot is straightforward so far. I'll watch to the end of the season though as I've heard it gets better towards the end.
I'm roughly half way through and am quite enjoying it. The visuals are truly amazing. The leads are very good. The plot is slow to get going but that is true of virually anything trying to introduce a full unfamiliar setting. It has to be quite challenging to tell a story and convey enough information so that the whole story makes sense.
"The Frankenstein Chronicles" has a similar feel and several similar themes. Loved them both.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. Even with how predictable some stuff was, I still liked it. My friend came over to see it with me over a few nights and he said it was one of his favorites. Cast was good and they've been given the green light for season two.
Actually lots of great B-Stories they can explore and intertwine with it . I hope they`ll better in second season
