You shall be aware of that displacement maps can only displace the geometry (in Iray). So in order to use displavement, you either need a very dense mesh, or using subD with appropriate level.
There are so many amazing things that you can do with DAZ Studio, but the official documentation on how to use the software is really out of date, frequently scattered in multiple locations (or, worse, simply no longer where it used to be), and a lot of the more advanced topics have never been covered in the first place. I've always got the impression that DAZ puts a lot of the more advanced tech in so the PAs can produce more interesting products and doesn't really expect the average user to ever use it. Which is probably true, overall. As it is, I've learned far more about the software just by hanging out in the forums and reading threads that look interesting or asking questions, or by reading manuals/tutorials for other programs and then coming back to see if those things work in DS.
Psst. Have you discovered Iray Section Planes yet? That's one that completely blew me away.
Keep in mind that just because a feature works in blender or another app, doesn't mean it will translate well into Daz Studio. As pointed out, you need some really dense mesh to make displacement maps work well in IRAY DS, which is why i tend not to use them, subbing for normal maps instead.
Thank you, which I usually do.
Thanks, I intend to use it in Blender. I actually came upon this because I didn't understand the difference between bump maps and normal maps. I'm clear now, but also found this.
No, I hadn't. Thank you.
