It moved to Hivewire with Ken Gilliland.
Looks like the Hula outfit by Ken Gilliland.
The Dawn version is still available at HW3D: https://hivewire3d.com/shop/shop-by-artist/ken-gilliland/hula-for-dawn.html
There was a V4 version IIRC, but I don’t think it’s available anymore.
...just checked the description and near the end it mentions that it also "...includes female traditional Polynesian clothing for the Genesis female shapes." Not sure if that was from the original promo here and just was not removed from the description. WHen I use "Genesis" as a search target, it does pull up even though in the additional information tab, it lists Dawn as the only compatible figure.
In any event, 20$ is too much to risk on my budget.
Bugger. Really need something like this for a character I'm developing using Kalea 7.
Oh, yes, it might have been a G1 version, not a V4 one.
It’s probably a cut and paste problem on the Dawn version as I remember a different product for other figures. But HW retired clothes not for their figures some time ago.
Strandbased hair on a belt?
If I would want to go polynesian, I'd try Deacon215's "dForce Tropical Leaf Outfit" at Rendo.
HiveWire discontinued the V4-version some months ago, after a last chance to get sale. together with a M4 Hawaiian outfit.. I got some of the other stuff they discontinued; they seem to hardly sell any Gen4 content any more.
Man..I was just wondering the same thing the other day. But I couldn't find it. I guess its one for a clothing maker to tackle...soon :)
Since we are on the topic of tropical, I have searching for hula or tahitian style dance motion (aniblock or BVH) for a while. Does anbody were it would be possible to find that? I have seen a few BVH that were just of some guy faking hula moves but I mean actual traditional dance moves. Thanks!
I would second the suggestion for the dForce Tropical Leaf Outfit on Rendo. It has elements similar to what is shown in your picture and might make a good starting point for kitbashing.
This skirt might do in a pinch, but it's pretty simple:
https://www.sharecg.com/v/18502/gallery/11/Poser/Hula-Skirt-for-MFD
You may be able to figure out how to add suitable adornments maybe, but it'd be a bit of work.
Just tried to find Ken's Hula for Genesis, but apparently it's been wiped from existence at Hivewire. He's just supporting Dawn now. Otherwise, his Big Kahuna bundle does look interesting.
As the OP (Kyoto kid) already said, though, it was out of his price range though!
As for the anklets, Amazon Witch Doctor for G8 has similar ones, but it's also a bit pricey. Maybe when it goes on sale...
https://www.daz3d.com/amazon-witch-doctor-outfit-for-genesis-8-females
Threre's also the anklets from Keres:
https://www.daz3d.com/keres-outfit-for-genesis-3-female-s
The leaves on those are a bit smaller, though.
As for the shell bra and feather wreath crown, well I'm sure there's a few options for those too. Maybe someone else has a few suggestions?
...ah, but it is for G8F and I work with G3F. I've already discussed conversion and learned there are issues with fitting G8 clothing on G3.
...I actually had DraagonStorm's MFD texture years ago, lost the backup file when the media I had it on became corrupted. Didn't think it was still available.
Thanks.
Supposedly even Gen4 MFD textures are supposed to work on the Genesis MFDs.
I do have floral anklets and bracelets from a couple Fey clothing sets that I can use as well as a floral wreath for the head. so I'm OK in that department.
Great suggestions on the anklets. For the shell bra some of the mermaid items could work. My favorite is:
https://www.daz3d.com/lorelei-mertail-for-genesis-2-female-s but it's not really full shells. The only one that is is the Calile Little Mermaid one but it doesn't have realistic strings on it.
Daz always has tons of mermaid but who knew the lack of shell bras! First world problems I guess....
Well if you cannot convert from G8 to 3 which are possibly the two easiest figures to convert between the V4 etc stuff would have been no good to you anyway
anything else involves auto fitting which is inclined to warp stuff.
between 8 & 3 it’s only a matter of reposing limbs and baking rotations and changing the scene identification
I still think strand based hair the best option
...however both LAMH and Garabaldi have to be converted to .obj (and "posed" beforehand) to render in Iray which is a huge drain on system resources. Not even sure I can use either to make a skirt.
I guess for some reason you cannot use the latest version of DAZ studio then either with the strand based hair
you just style that on the fly and it renders in iray
...odd, I have very little trouble with Gen4 (then I have Wear Them All which includes fits for V4/M4 G2F/G2M and Genesis). Footwear is the only serious issue with Gen4 (and that is due to the default "ballerina" foot pose they used). When I tried fitting G8F clothing I picked up as a freebie, there was poke-through even with G3F selected as the smoothing/collision target. The only content I have no trouble with is hair, but I've been doing manual hair fits for as long as I've been at this (which are fairly simple).
The likely solution would be the G8F > G3F Clothing Converter (25$), but being that my monthly food supplement has been markedly decreased and having to buy groceries out of pocket for about the last 12 days a month, I have to cut back on extraneous purchases, particularly late in the month.
Tight funds are an amazing therapy if you are a Dazaholic.
some goes with the strand based hair
it could be better, I really couldn't be bothered as I prefer my Carrara
hopefully I did this right as to not peeve Cris
as for fitting clothes as someone who prefers stuff readymade ready to go you are probably better off buying that product, it is by SickleYield who's tutorials I follow with a script by Riversoft that does what I do manually for free
https://www.deviantart.com/sickleyield/journal/Tutorial-Convert-Clothing-G3-to-G8-G8-to-G3-686682065
...that UI doesn't look familiar.
its the strand based hair one in the newest build
admittedly I use the beta but should be the same
you may be confusing it with Garibaldi
...there's a strand hair generator in 4.12 that works in Iray?
The strand hair in 4.11 works in Iray, too.
it looks like they finally unstickied it too
you really need to venture out of that complaint thread more its been around for months
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/326996/dforce-hair-as-well-as-strand-based-hair-and-the-strand-based-hair-editor-in-public-beta/p1
a tutorial by Divamakeup

if you want a dynamic one though a PA has to make it
I love Carrara
..so the strand hair tools work pretty much like LAMH/Garibaldi I'll have to experiment with it. Is there any way to give it more of a matte instead of shiny finish?
As to other thread (in the first link) I pretty much ignored any discussions that related to dForce since it is too much of a resource drain for my ancient hardware.
I was also dealing with a number of critical RL issues since March that took precedence over 3D, which pretty much caused me to not be very active on the Forums (I only returned to the Complaint thread rather recently).
Turning the highlight colors to black should tone down the shine.
..what I need to do do is make it look like this:
You cannot use Dforce on it anyway as that’s PA only
this is basically a modified version of Garibadi hair as DAZ bought it that renders in iray so much the same skills needed and I said I didn’t bother much, shaders can be tweaked considerably
