I keep getting the not a valid postreg connection error since I started using 4.12. Nothing else has changed on my machine. Most things work but other things do not. Any advice on how to fix this?

Is it still working with 4.11? If so I would suspect security software is treating them differently.
It does indeed work with 4.11. I have no idea how to fix that lol.

Avira the free version
I'm using Avira free version with no problems with DS 4.12.0.47.
I can't find anything that allows me to add the post reg to a safe list in avira. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Its really not very usable for me this way. 11 sucks, the render times are twice as long as 10 was, and it takes much longer to get rid of the grain. Even with the denoiser. 12 seems to be much better but its pretty useless if I can't use half my stuff.
I'm not familiar with Avira, but tos tart with one test wmight ould be to disconnect the machine from the net, disable Avira (assuming there's an option to do that - possibly by right-click on the Task Bar icon), and see if DS will then connect to PostgreSQL. The switch Avira back on before reconnecting.

Okay that did not work. I compoletely uninstalled Avira and turned off my firewall. Still getting the same error. any other suggestions on how to get it to link up the post reg? I'm getting al ittle desperate
Are the options in Edit>Preferences>CMS settings tab the same in both versions of DS?
After DS starts, click with right mouse button on "Smart Content" to get the menu and from menu click "Start CMS". First time I started 4.12 it failed to connect as well. Starting CMS from inside of DS fixed it.
I had a similar problem when I installed the latest 4.12.0.67 DS PB even after two uninstalls & reinstalls. DS was not running doing either uninstall or reinstall. What finally fixed it was rebooting, uninstalling DS PB via DIM and reinstalling DS PB via DIM. Like you DS 4.11 Release was unaffected.
