Viewport Sluggishness (Dual 2080 TIs)
in The Commons
I'm just getting up and running on a new computer:
CPU: Ryzen 3900x
GPUs: (2) 2080 TIs
RAM: 64gb 3200
That said, I have my settings at Default right now and I'm finding the Viewport (NVIDIA Iray) to be impossibly slow. The lag is making it almost impossible to pose, as I end up undercompensating or overcompensating, since I can't see what I'm doing. Based on my system specs, I'm sure there are some DAZ settings I should tweak to take advantage of my system's horsepower, but I wanted to ask for a current set of recommendations, as the ones I've found historically aren't didn't have an impact in my initial testing

Funnily enough, I have just been looking into this myself after a graphics card upgrade. My results so far are a bit hit and miss, but a few suggestions to try are:
If you haven't already done it, go to Edit > Preferences and set Display Optimisation to Best.
In Render Settings > General set the Auto Headlamp to Never
Whilst in Render Settings, I would go to Progressive Rendering and set Maximum Samples to a value from 20-50 - it doesn't affect the smoothness of the viewport, but it does stop your cards running constantly whilst you're setting up a scene.
In Draw Settings > Drawing I've set Response Threshold to 100. You should also play with Manipulation Resolution.
Headlamp! That did it. So much more workable, now. Thanks so much! Any other optimisations people can recommend would be greatly appreciated
No problem. I was also surprised with how much difference it makes. Thanks for reporting back, and please post more if you find some other settings.
