It's decent quality and not very hard on system resources.

cool never have seen this but isn`t it more foor toons?
Not really - 3D Universe does realistic models as well as toon models.

I grabbed Residential as well as the huge Dreamland Models bundle that had most of their products. I'm playing with it now. The Dreamland Models are beautiful BUT all of the alternate textures are .mc6 files. I'm trying to figure out if I can convert those to pz2 or something somehow but am not having much luck. This means the sets will work but I'll lose out on some of the great alternate textures like the ability to make the roads look wet after a rain which is a shame as I was going to combine that with AoAs atmospheric cameras and try to make a sort of beautiful foggy town render!

I looked at it but if memory serves I held off because it was scaled to the toon figures and I wasn't sure how different in size they are to more traditional figures.

I think you can add some reflection to the roads in the DS Shader tab to make them look wet , I know I did that a while ago.

how does Residential work/look in DS4? I'm dithering on that one myself.

I've been using this tut to convert to pz2

I tried that tutorial anika on one of the sets and it doesn't work on the wet roads. I just did it on all of the block 81 mats and I'm hoping it'll at least work for the sky dome and the forests to change their look. I suspect the wet roads is using some kind of Poser Shader that Daz can't use.

Tot? How did you use reflections to make the roads look wet? One thing I like in his previews is he is even able to give the appearance of puddles which I have so far been unable to mimic.

Good find, there...I knew there was an easy way to do it, but couldn't find it.

I actually haven't used Residential yet. All I've done is briefly playing with the Dreamland stuff. I'm going through looking into setting up the 81 blocks and such and playing with that. Somebody earlier in the thread mentioned that someone had a suggested layout for the dreamland stuff so it'd look more like an actual city/town but I haven't found it yet. I'll probably try something like the bigger city stuff in the center and the houses on the outskirts. I'm also going to see if it is at all possible to use the ocean front set with the big 81 blocks to make a sea side style town but I doubt it since 81 blocks has those hills built in.

Ok, I converted the files with mixed results in the Dreamland stuff. I can now change the skydome and the trees as well as the color of the grass. None of the wet or snowy stuff works but I think that is far too poser specific unfortunately.

Yeah, those are pretty Poser specific shaders....not really material settings, if I recall from the one or two Dreamland things I've got.

Well, Toon Girl Sadie is a bit shorter than Laura, but she's also supposed to be a bit younger than Laura. I'd guess the toon figures and sets are scaled to the same size as the realistic ones.

Well I thought I'd show everyone a render I did with the Dreamland model stuff trying to make an eerie small town!

I'd say here's a quick render ... but it took a while to put together. It uses Residential as the basis and looks not bad in general, though a lot of the foliage is of the billboard-style. If I'd had more time and more RAM I might have swapped out the billvoard stuff and plugged the gaps with 'proper' trees and bushes.
