Iray - Unable to render without CPU selected

Whenever i see someone's render settings, or I watch a video, they are able to render with CPU in the advanced settings UNCHECKED.

But when I try this, i get a render with nothing.
its just transparent. 

Am i setting the render up wrong, or am i just not able to do it?

I have a GeForce GTX 1050

    Iray WARNING - module:category(IRAY:RENDER):   1.0   IRAY   rend warn : GPU 1 (GeForce GTX 1050) with CUDA compute capability -1.-1 cannot be used by iray photoreal.

    Iray WARNING - module:category(IRAY:RENDER):   1.0   IRAY   rend warn : There is no CUDA-capable GPU available to the iray photoreal renderer.

    Iray ERROR - module:category(IRAY:RENDER):   1.0   IRAY   rend error: Cannot render: found no usable devices.

    these 3 warnings are in the logs.
    but i checked the nvidia website and mine is listed as a CUDA-capable GPU

    Do you have a new enough driver (418.63 for DS 4.11.0.383, 430.soemthing for the 4.12.0.33 Public Build)? What is your GPU - some are too old.

    are you under 64 bit?

    Yes I've updated drivers.
    GPU is already posted, GTX Geforce 1050

     

    I am 64bit
