I've been all day afk so last night I left the computer rendering this image at size 3000 (my half) to see what happened

When I came I found the 10000 iterations done and the image is not good enough as my other images are; I will let it this night to do another 5000 iterations at 6 quality to see what happened

But thinking while driving back from the city maybe there is a reason of this image being so grainy. As I said above the light in this scene is sun-sky plus a light-plane from DT  from his set iRadiance - HDR Mesh Lights for Iray

If I remember correctly sun-sky mode didn't allow before vers 4.11 to have more lights than the sun on the scene. You could put them but would not compute. Is it right?

Or was it only in the first iRay version? I'm not sure and will test it in my laptop which is still 4.10 if I find the time

If this was true then 4.11 is a great advantage cause this two source lights are here and blending, badly but blending.

I did this image in my size last week with no other light than the sun and rendered correctly. (my correct, lol, one night, 6.000 px, quality at 3 and more than 75% completion) It was a little flat but adusting levels and using the grainy version obtained after three rendering nights as layer I achieved the image I wanted. It is posted on my gallery in DA. Is huge, is postrendered and if you want you can see it there; is called "Pose for me". (Warning, my gallery is for adults only, although there are some images viewable by all as this one is)

Now with this new driver I found the rendering results better

I show here the 3000px image that has being rendering while I was away although it will be a reduced version to 1600 to fit the forums

Tomorrow I will compare to the one with 15000 iterations

    FYI:

The image rendered at 6000, reduced to 1600, done with sun-sky only (same day same hour) without DT Light plane that my CPU with wrong drivers rendered some nights ago

And now I want to thank all of you your help, patience and advice

I am sure I will enjoy more posing and rendering now iray preview is better thanks to ebergerly , now I know I have the correct driver, thanks Takeo, now I know that if I want to use the mouse I must render at less size, thanks L'Adair

I want to thank the advice to use the The GPU_Z program you all have given; I will try to install and understand it

But there is a tip given by Nylon Girl I am eager to try

If you hold down the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete keys at the same time, a menu comes up that lets you click on "Task Manager". In the task manager, under the "Details" tab, you can find DAZStudio.exe. If you right-click on DAZStudio.exe, a menu comes up that looks like the attachment below. In that menu, you can choose "set priority" and choose "Below Normal" or "Low". I think it will ask you to confirm that you really want to do that. Then DAZ Studio will stop making your mouse and keyboard hang while rendering. But you will have to do this every time you launch DAZ Studio, and it won't make your renders finish faster.

    good night!

On the sun/sky with additional lights, I believe the trick is to select "dome and scene" as your environment mode, then in the environment map channel set the map to "none" in order to get the sun/sky controls back, and still get other lights in the scene.

WOW Almighty, you are right! That is a wonderful tip I never knew about. And sun-sky is my fav light

I show you here the progress with those settings AND 6000px after only 15min

And I was doing the test again at that huge size to see if the mouse problem could be affected by the changes we have done. A bit better but still can kill anybodys patience. So I have two ways... I reduce my "normal" size or NylonGirl tip works so I try it

    but...

my task manager has not all those bells and whistles surprise

Why yours has them? It seems Apple device, is it? I am on a Windows 10 maybe there is an update for the Task Manager program (That is a widget, a script, a program, a service... which is the right name?)

Maybe GPU_Z program can allow to set priority too; Do someone of you users know?

Try to click the next tab "Perfomance' in top of the task manager, and you will have a lot of further options.

That's why I told you to learn to light and that explains the graininess. Without a dome, all the light rays do no bounce around and are lost in the infinite void

I guess the DT light plane is the other trick that should have partially redirected the sunlight onto the character but without a dome, that is not sufficient

For the Mouse problem, you didn't read carefully what NylonGirl wrote : you must go into the details Tab or you can click "Go to details"

    Taskmgr

Thanks, thanks, thanks! NylonGirl and Takeo

    This is it!

I'm typing normally in this thread while the huge image is rendering and the priority was adjusted only at "below normal"

Not as smooth as if it weren't rendering but perfectly usable to read, write or web browser

(Next steps; look for the possibilty of opening another DS instance to pose while rendering, and install GPU_Z. I imagine this will ask for a PC reboot... )

    Done and installed!

All while rendering the huge image

I set the priority to low at 513 iterations, now is 1295, closed the browser with its many tabs and opened another DS Instance: I've been whole afternoon posing another scene with any slowness of the mouse, The CPU at 100", the memory using its 32Gb and the card using 11 Gb dedicated memory. Awesome experience. Thanks again friends!

  • Optix Prime Acceleration, leave it enabled, this will greatly improve the slowness you claimed to have.
