Geoshell-based wet skin effects on characters with geografted anatomical elements?

Has anyone worked out how to get geoshell-based wet skin effects to work on characters which have aftermarket geografted gens? I have tried with a number of different wet skin products, but it seems that none of them accommodate the geografts. I have even tried applying a separate shell to both the character and the geograft, to no avail. Any ideas would be welcome.

When it comes to geografts and geoshells, you need to copy the materials from the existing geoshell surfaces to the new material zones created for the geograft, then set an appropriate UV on it; for the Daz female anatomical elements, I personally use the "Torso UV" setting from Skin Builder (intended for characters that do not have custom anatomical materials), but I believe there are free alternatives.

You will probably need to use a UV independent option for other choices of gens.

    Thank you... I'll try that!

Hmm... no joy. I'm copying the material from the geoshell's torso zone, and then trying to paste it to each of the four zones of the aftermarket genital geograft, but the result is that the geograft looks essentialy the same and does not blend with the rest of the figure at all. All of the UVs involved are Base G3F.

The new material zones are not on the geograft, they're for the geograft; the main figure's geoshell automatically updates with new surfaces when geografts are present.

The problem is that these new regions will not automatically have correct materials added. (It's possible that certain material presets may account for it, but this will only happen for geografts the author of the preset was anticipating; 3rd party add-ons are unlikely to be covered).

Depending on the product in question, you may also need to check the offsets on the geoshell. I know some such products use geoshells for some of their texturing, but two geoshells with the same offset will cause problems. If the product does use geoshells, then make sure they have a lesser offset than the wet layer.

There's a thread on the R'otica forum (3feetwolf Product Support) about this problem and the solution. This was 3feetwolf's reply which is described using his product but I think could be a clue for others:

I have been using the following steps to resolve the compatibility issue between NGV8 and Wet Body, please try them to see if they work for you. I will write a script when I have time.
    1. Apply NGV8 to your character, for example, V7.
    2. Apply Wet Body to your character.
    3. Select Wet Body geometry shell node in the Scene pane, then go to the Surfaces pane and change the Shaders of 'new_gens_V8_1840_Anus' and 'new_gens_V8_1840_Genitalia' to 'Iray Uber'. Select 'Torso' surface and copy its material settings and then paste to 'new_gens_V8_1840_Anus' and 'new_gens_V8_1840_Genitalia'.
    4. Select 'new_gens_V8_1840_Anus' and 'new_gens_V8_1840_Genitalia' again, then change their UVs back to Victoria 7. Done.

He did write a script which is linked in the forum thread (look back through the forum to about a year ago).

"change the Shaders of 'new_gens_V8_1840_Anus' and 'new_gens_V8_1840_Genitalia' to 'Iray Uber'."

This is the part I can't figure out. How do you change a shader to Iray Uber?

No need to do that Steel Rat. The free script that marble mentions above is still available for download and works like a dream on any G8F geoshell.

Edit - note that a wet body geoshell will make the skin appear slightly darker than the AEs, but that is easy to fix in postwork, or with strategically placed AE hair.

Ah... I KNEW I'd read about a way to do this, but couldn't remember where.

I didn't see a link to a script. I see that Daz has a Skin Builder product, but not free.

What I'm trying to do is have a geoshell outfit fit over top of a geograft.

That's funny I do the same thing. I get tired of trying to fix things in daz just fire up photo editor of your choice and problems solved. I fix so many short comming this way!!!
