Where'd all my content go?

I started up and all the presets and products I had are now not in the left pane. Where'd they go? What I do wrong?

:(

I didn't change anything but for some reason all the content I used to have is no longer available.

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Check and see if your CMS is running. It sounds like it's not

This probably means the Content Management service has stopped running for some reason.

If you are on a Windows machine, it runs as a service. If you go to the DAZ folder on the menu, there should be a menu item to start the service. Try restarting the service and see if that fixes it.

If it does not, it is possible the index and/or data base has been corrupted, which is casing the service to crash. The first thing to try is rebuilding the index. There are instructions for that here:

    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/33496/#497671

The data base can also be rebuild from the meta data if it is corrupt.

All of your content is still available in the Content Library pane, even if Smart Content is not working.

Ah well as you can see from the screenshot I'm running on a Mac. How do I run the CMS?

    The Mac FAQ (http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/16599/) says:

    In Programs/DAZ 3D/DAZ Studio (32 or 64)bit is a folder named service.
    It holds two Applescripts:
    Start DAZ Content Management Service
    Stop DAZ Content Management Service

Use them to Start/Stop the content manager, do not use the terminal or the Activity Monitor or Force Quit dialog.

Ah well I tried that and it still hasn't returned the program to the way it was before. It was all set up nicely and I had access to all the content in the smart content tab but now they are all empty. :( bit of a let down really.

    Any other ideas?

Thanks for your help. It's a bit of a learning curve as it is without this niggling problem.

First you need to figure out if the content management is actually running or not.

You can try following the instructions here for figuring out if the CMS is running:

    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/16599/#244422

Also look in the log files to see if there are errors.

If the CMS data base is corrupted, you can just delete the data base files and rebuild them by doing re-import meta data on Content DB Maintenance pane. In the Content Library pane there is a menu tab in the upper right corner. From that menu pick Content DB Maintenance.

Hmm I am getting a lot of errors it seems:

I'll check the Content DB Maintenance as you suggest.

    Thank you!

You probably need to delete the existing data base files, because they are corrupt.

You should make sure DAZ is not running, then stop the content management service, if it is running.

    Then delete the database files.

Then restart the content management service. Make sure it is running.

Start DAZ studio, and use the Content DB maintenance to rebuild the data base.

Hmm I think you might be right. Okay, can you remind me where the databse files are so I can delete them? Or did you tell me that already. (Sorry!) And which menu item is it for rebuilding the database?

    Thank you for your patience.

The Max FAQ seems to imply the data base files are in /LibrrayDAZ 3D/Content Manager Service /databases, if you installed in the standard location.

    Yep that's it.

All the content is back where it should be. Basically the thing that worked was making sure everything was off, deleting the DB files then restarting the CMS (checking with activity monitor) and then starting Daz3D4.6

Then I reimported meta data, and . . . I think . . . consolidate files? Wish I hadn't done that cos now I don't know which thing was necessary. But hey its working.

    Thank you everyone who helped.

    Phil
