Which is faster? DIM or Connect?

Which is faster?  Downloading what is needed via DIM or having Connect download the item desired?

I neither like nor use connect, so can't answer; why don't you test it?

See how long it takes with each, all you need to do is delete it to download again.

I don't use connect much either, only with a few products that require it But I can say for some reason if you open a scene and a product isn't installed, connect is really, really slow installing the missing product(s). Far slower than when I used connect to install above mentioned products. You're much better skipping the error then go install the missing product and then reload the scene.

I never timed it. I think Connect might be a little faster, but I have nothing to back up that statement. I've been using Connect almost exclusively since they started. It's a nice way to save on disk space because it's easier to temporarily uninstall things or install just what I need if I'm running low on disk space.

You still have to install plugins via DIM. As far as I know, they still don't have that working with Connect correctly yet.

I have to note, though, that I still download the DIM files for backup and storage purposes. I'm not sure I completely trust Connect to be available if something were to happen to Daz. It's a little redundant and I'm behind on keeping up with it, but I do also download the two Connect files for each product needed install via Connect offline. I like knowing I can still use things via DIM if things go sideways. Everything gets saved to disk and backed up to a portable drive. Something I'll probably have to do again this weekend with the new stuff I just bought today.

I've used Connect enough to know that DIM seems much faster, I don't know if it actually is, and DIM is more easily portable if you reinstall your computer than Connect is.
