What is the best way to get a hold of a vendor for product issues?

I had purchased https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-on-vacation-outfit-for-genesis-8-males some time back and I am just now getting to using the product and when I load the socks for the outfit the Shorts load and no socks. all the rest of the outfit is fine. just not the socks.

I'll have to check it later myself, don't recall an issue. But as far as contact though, use the DAZ help link to get to their support form. DAZ first handles support for products in their store, whether or not they are DAZ originals, and they will contact vendors if their support can't help or fix it.

Loading the whole outfit has the socks. But if you just want the socks it loads the shorts.

Daz handle all product queries like this, it's part of the service they provide for their cut of the items they sell, so you need to raise a support ticket, and as that item is listed as a Daz Original I understand that means that they bought the item outright from the creators. Also a post here in the forums will generally get a response from other users/owners of the product in question with help & guidance with issues, though a post title referencing the product is more likely to attract the attention of somebody else with the item, hope this helps.

EDIT: Looks like I was a bit slow typing.

Then just delete the other parts and leave the socks

As others have mentioned, Daz handles all the tech support for products sold here. Definitely file a support ticket via the Contact Us page, and let Daz know there is a problem so they can fix it.

I don't have this outfit, so I have to ask, (I just can't help myself!) What happens if you try to load the shorts?
    wink laugh

If you're only going to use them for one scene, @FSMCDesigns's solution to load the outfit and then delete all but the socks is relatively quick, temporary solution. On the other hand, if you know you'll want to use the socks again and again, you create your preset by selecting the socks and then saving them as a support Asset. (Save As->Support Asset->figure/Prop Asset.)

Save them to "My Library" with your name as the author, not to the original product's location, and it should be relatively easy to delete once Daz updates the product with the preset fix.

The socks and sandals are one figure , you can turn off the sandals in the suface tab ,but you have to load "Summer Vacation- shoes "and yes I have the outfit and double checked.

As others have said, you can file a support ticket but considering their current workload it might take a while before they can get to it. In the meantime, I recommend loading the outfit, delete all but the socks and then save it as a Wearable Preset (Select the socks in the Scene Tab then go to File >> Save As >> Wearable Preset.). That's what I would do if I planned to use the socks frequently.

Disclaimer: Threads with titles like this one has, will inevitably attract me to comment. Do not read if you wish to obtain factual or useful information or are currently being treated for any psychological conditions that can lead to hallucinations. Immediately stop reading if you experience dizziness, nausea or your eyes fall out. None of the content of this post is endorsed, supported or matches the opinions of dAz 3D Mega Corporation KG & Co. OHG or it’s parent company Globodeath Megasystems Holdings Limited.

Also, if you are a vendor, don’t read this if you are easily offended or have strong feelings about inaccurate or unkind portrayal of vendors in popular media, jiggy vendor lovin’, alcoholic beverages or don’t like to read...

The following “information” is an excerpt from a field guide I wrote about the study of vendors and content creators in the wild.  Please note, you should never directly approach a wild vendor as they have very sharp nasty little teeth and they love biting stuff.  While domestic vendors are quite adorable if properly fed and supplied with ample quantities of alcohol, the wild vendor must hunt for its food and alcohol and can be quite territorial.

Chapter 5- Getting hold of a vendor:

There are several reasons one may wish to get hold of a vendor... Scientific research, tagging, gambling debt collection, product issues, collecting new specimens for entertainment parks, or just for the visceral thrill of encountering one of the most majestic and dangerous creatures on this planet.

For tips on more nefarious reasons please turn to Chapter 21- “Nefarious Motives”.

I have found that the best way to get a hold of a vendor is to wait in the bushes along a path they frequently take... Vendors will often mark their trails and  territory using various bodily fluids... Many experts have noted that the odor is strongly reminiscent of a mixture asparagus, bourbon and sadness.

Vendors will frequent remark territory, so stay alert to avoid getting sprayed as the scent is quite pungent and difficult to remove. This is particularly important to keep in mind around mating season, as these fluids attract amorous vendors looking for a good time... Vendors of both genders can be quite randy and may swarm you... of course if you are into that sort of thing, then by all means, just roll in the stuff...  I’m not one to judge, you naughty little rascal...

For more information on this topic see Chapter 32- “So You Want To Get Jiggy With A Vendor You Filthy Piggy”.

Vendor trails can often be found between pubs and liquor stores, in back alleys, or behind pawn shops and illegal gambling dens. Although I prefer to hide in bushes or low shrubbery, one can hide in refuse piles, under cardboard boxes or dress as a stray cat or fire hydrant/fire plug.

Once you are sure you have found a suitable location, it is best to lie still and wait until they pass you a little and then leap out, holding firmly onto whatever part you grab. Some appendages are easier to hold onto than others so be careful to hold on tight and aim well.

Some vendors are cheeky little scamps and will wiggle free quickly, so it is best to wear the same type of gloves that mackerel handlers wear when slinging mackerels about... I prefer the TroutMaster 2500... it’s good for most vendors, even really sweaty ones.

On occasion you may encounter a really oily vendor, or one that is molting or shedding large quantities of body hair... Molting is a seasonal issue, and can be shocking if one grabs an appendage and is left holding onto its hollow shell while the vendor runs off hooting in fear.  Do a little research and make sure to know when (or if) the selected vendor molts. Body hair can be an issue as well during seasonal shedding... in early spring many vendors will shed their long winter fur which will come off in thick clumps. Although this makes a great stuffing for pillows, lining for erotic lingerie and is an excellent material for insulating one’s home, it can be quite disappointing to have a vendor run off leaving you with nothing but handfuls of fur.

Some experts recommend leaving out a bowl of vodka or scotch to attract vendors, but responsible naturists will note that this could lead to vendors becoming dependent on these treats. This can be a serious problem in some areas because of people who are only there for the jiggy vendor lovin’.

The same can be said about the use of tranquilizer darts which seems to have little effect on most vendors, in fact some become addicted to these sedatives and will turn their rump towards you so as to receive additional darts... be aware that if you run out of darts the vendor could become violent and turn on you... vendor bites can take a very long time to heal and often leave scarring.

If you are bitten by a vendor please see Chapter 168- Vendor Bites And How To Avoid A Painful Death From Them.

If you have studied your quarry properly and engage it in a levelheaded manner you should at that point have a firm hold on your vendor... depending on your motives proceed to either: “Chapter 6- I’ve Got One, Now What The Hell Do I Do?”,  “Chapter 34- Safe And Responsible Vendor Lovin’ You Filthy, Filthy Little Piggy”, “Chapter 679- Nefarious Uses For Vendors On The Black Market”, and “Chapter 863- Taxidermy: It’s Not That Hard”

If you have enjoyed the preceding excerpt, the entire “Field Guide To Vendors, Content Creators And Other Weirdos” is available from Globodeath Megasystems Holdings Ltd, Book and Pamphlet Division, North America, GmbH, AG & QxzB.

I hope this was helpful... or entertaining, or in the very least, nobody’s eyes fell out completely.

Based on what @carrie58 said about the socks and sandals loading as one, I'd use the Geometry Editor tool to remove the sandals first, then save as a Wearable Preset.

If you can hide the sandals in the Surfaces tab, then it will be easy to remove them with the Geometry Editor:

    1. Select the shoes and socks object in the Scene.
    2. Activate the Geometry Editor Tool
    3. Open the Tool Settings Pane.
    4. In the Tool Settings pane, expand Surfaces.
    5. Select the Sandals surface in the list by clicking on the "+" sign for the Sandals.
    6. (If more than one surface shows up for the Sandals, for example, Metal, select it the same way.)
    7. Verify in the viewport that both sandals are highlighted.
    8. If you're using DS 4.11:
      • Right-click in the viewport. In the popup menu, click on Geometry Editing >> Delete Selected Polygon(s)
    9. If you're using DS 4.10 or earliler:
      • Right-click in the viewport. In the popup menu, click on Geometry Visibility >> Hide Selected Polygon(s)
      • Right-click in the viewport again. In the popup menu, click on Geometry Editing >> Delete Hidden Polygon(s)
    10. With the socks selected, go to the main menu File >> Save As >> Wearable Preset.

Again, I don't have this outfit, so I can't tell you if the socks have the bottoms of the feet modeled, but I suspect not.

Sorry Carrie, your post didn't show up until after I posted mine. That happens sometimes where we can see our posts but for some reason, it seems to take several minutes for others to see the post sometimes. Perhaps a server issue - may be different servers taking a few minutes to sync up.

There are two outifts for Genesis 8 male with very similar names.

    https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-on-vacation-outfit-for-genesis-8-males

    https://www.daz3d.com/summer-vacation-outfit-for-genesis-8-male-s

I made the On Vacation set. The socks and sandles are separate.  I checked and in the store copy it does appear as if someone made a mix up when resvaing them with textures.  It happens, the set still functions fine but there is currently no one click load for the socks.  I've let the appropriate people know.

In the meantime if you want to fix it yourself this is how (approximate time 20-30 seconds):

Load the outfit. Select the socks. Save As,  all the way at the bottom  Support asser menu, Figure Prop Asset

When the dialog comes up browse to the location of the clothing item probably in or near C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\People\Genesis 8 Male\Clothing\dForce On Vacation  and leave the file name "On Vacation Socks.duf"  as is. Then Save.  It will ask you if you want to overwrite the existing, say yes.

Another dialog will pop up. Leave this one alone and just hit Accept.

Now when you load the socks, the socks will load.

Note -  when you resave the item DS will make a a new duf.png which blocks the fancy .png icon in the package, but its still there.  If it bothers you, you will need to right click on the item in Content and Browse file location.  This will bring up file manager and you can select and delete the extra .duf.png file.

PS when attempting to lure the wild british vendor, I would recomend a nice packet of bikkies and a pot of hot black tea.

ok now I'm going to take my tea and dayquil and shuffle back to my nice warm pile of blankets

Update for On Vacation showed up in my DIM this morning, so you should now be able to load the socks on their own

Best way to contact a vendor (if you can't find them on Deviant Art, Rendo or use the messaging system here)  Start your headline with

"Dear VendorName, please help"   and then you can continue in the main part of the message with your abject pleas and offers of chocolate, coffee and booze as bribes  :)

Even if your vendor doesn't see it, another vendor will and alert the rest of the pride.
