Would we ever see a more pro character designers/animators tool here?

    Rather than argue:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golem

Golem is mutable and used to form many legends, good, bad, or both.  Similar to Gollum's symbolism in TLOTR where Gollum is also symbolic of the mutability of personality and goals.

That's quite a stretch. By that definition, any story that displays moral ambiguity or complexity is a ripoff of the golem myth. But since you linked to Wikipedia, I can't help but notice how the page for golem contains zero references to Gollum, and vice versa.

Wikipedia isn't the alpha & omega but Golem is, hence Gollum derives from Golem. It's just lazy (joking, they were very hard) wikipedia volunteers that failed to take notice but that's not a surprise. Who can recognize Golem in all incarnations? Did you see where it's supposed that even the Ginger Bread man was derived from Gollum? Also, if you read the Golem page you realize all DAZ 3D characters are derived from Golem.laugh

While the interpretation of "pro" may vary for each individual, at this point in time the tools are out there that allow the actual pro to the basement enthusiatic to produce pro level work, provided they are willing to thouroughly learn the craft, and the tools that are out there  -- and I'm not talking about tools that will cost you a down payment on a house.

At this stage we really don't need a "wow" factor each few months in technological advances so much as a wow from the users of said technology with original ideas and concepts.  For  all the advances motion picture technology and animation have made in the last several years some of the most inventive stuff in the genre can still be found in the 80's using older techniques.

Instead of looking for tools to wow you,  learn the craft and wow the audience.  Filmmaking and animation are now about as democratized as any artform can be.  You don't need one piece of software to be the end all for every need out there, and no one software, or piece of equipment will ever be able to do everything.

Gingerbread men are inanimate objects given life, so there is a very clear parallel to golems (but NOT Gollum). Which scenario is more likely: that the entire army of Wikipedia editors failed to notice an obvious parallel between a very well-trodden folktale and a major character in one of the most beloved and influential pieces of fiction ever written....or that you are wrong about them being related? You still haven’t provided any evidence that Gollum was derived from golems except that the names sound similar. Is That seriously all the evidence you’ve got?

I think the golem discussion perhaps needs to have its forehead wiped.

To point out that Bilbo met Gollum in a cave is...., which is a violation of the TOS.  Whatever the answer to the fill in the blank (which I will use as a guide to conform my future posts), my apologies.    blush

As someone who is just getting his tootsies into animation I've found the bulk of this discussion quite interesting - absent, that is, of the discussion of the cave dweller ant the clay giants.

THe convo had become very much subject to bullet point #2  of the Forum ToS,  which states

    • Criticism should be directed towards the subject or topic at hand, rather than an individual.

    And it carried on even after Richard's remark.  Unfortunately, when we tidy up a thread, some posts are removed which impact on the moved convo even othough not being, stricly speaking, part of it. {collateral damage}

For some reason I just had this brilliant idea I should suggest flat Earth terrains for Carrara and Bryce as a product suggestion devil

Then I remembered I am in Australia and we don’t exist cheeky

BTW my gripe with Carrara’s infinite plane is it is flat, it should have a slight curved option to make animations easier

Rumor has it that you will see some significant advancements in both animation in Daz Studio, and the ability to use Daz content in other software late this summer.  But of course, I am not the type to spread rumors ;)

    I'm already salivating.

Same here! Daz's lack of character animation tools has been the one missing piece for me since I started using it for character creation. I've been having to export characters to iClone for animation, which means losing a lot of the benefits of Daz characters (JCMs and HD morphs being two big ones). If Daz can manage to give us something similar to iClone/Maya's HumanIK they're going to rule the world!

The question is what are you prepared to pay for it nothing is for free ???

What about around the price of poser pro? what was it $300,00 only worked out in a better version as poser/iclone = "big hit"
