    I suspect this is a deliberate function. Aux viewport is supposed to be for quick previews, not to run permanantly in Iray mode. If you're rendering and you also have Aux in Iray, you're effectively doubling the amount of resources used, so it's better to render with Aux in another mode. That will be why it reverts - to not waste resources unnecessarily.

  • 1 speculation that the software architects would arbitrarily decide what is best for us. But only in one detail and assuming we aren't smart enough to switch it off when we are ready to do a full render or have systems that can handle it. A simple warning message would be a little less draconian. There are countless other ways to negativley affect efficiency that are not prevented.
