How can I go back to an older version of DAZ?

How can I go back to an older version of DAZ? I recently updated it and I'm having lots of glitches. Thanks

Older versions of DS are not available for download anymore. If you have a backup of the install files you can reinstall the older version manually, otherwise you can try opening a support request to see if Daz support can provide you with them.

DAZ Studio 4.5 is still available as part of the DAZ Studio 4.5+ SDK which can be 'purchased' for free: https://www.daz3d.com/daz-studio-4-5-sdk

Edit to add: This version was before iRay rendering was available.

  • If you didn't save the install files before you updated you can't, this has been covered before a number of times. I was caught out the same way when 4.10.0.123 was released.

    Best Wishes
    Steve,

    1. Install from an older version you have saved.

    2. Request an older version from Customer Service, then install it.

1 is the preferred option as no idea if 2 is possible.

There are regular posts about backing up and saving files 'just-in-case'; anyone reading this, please consider doing this.

That post is from 2019, and the first sentence of the SDK product page says "The DAZ Studio SDK is a free C++ software development platform..."

The installer you are looking for should be listed on your account page under "Product Library"

    https://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/files#prod_13176

If not, here is the link to the store page.

    https://www.daz3d.com/daz-studio-4-pro

It's free but you may need to "buy" it so it gets added to your library, just like the other free items.

The products you linked to are for the current version of DAZ Studio. However, If you "purchase" the free SDK kit one of  of the downloads that are available with it is for DAZ Studio 4.5

ETA: I own the SDK kit and I just checked the available downloads under the product. DS 4.5 is still there in both 32 and 64 bit versions.

    Use a backup you saved.

You do back up software you consider important right? Just like you back up documents, files and images you consider important...

Disconnect your computer from the internet.

Backup all your Daz files if you haven't recently.

Open D.I.M. ( Daz Install Mgr ) and click "work offline".

Uninstall Daz4.xx (whatever version you don't like) using the "installed" tab.

    Close D.I.M.

    Go to C\users\public\pub docs\Daz3d\install mgr\downloads.

Remove Daz4.xx zip and dsx files and add the older version files.

Open D.I.M. and click "work offline".

Use the "ready to install" tab to install the old Daz version.

    Reconnect to the internet.

Sorry, but uploading old Daz files to the forum is not allowed, apparently.

Thanks for this. 4.20 was killing me with lighting. Fortunately I run DS on four different machines, so I grabbed a slightly older version from one of those. Now I'm back in business.

You don't need to disconnect DIM from the Internet, or the computer; it is enough to use DIM in offline mode - although not essential as the most recent version can't download unless you tell it to.

Then point DIM to the folder that the particular version you want to install is located.
