Some products Questions
here another question toward a type of products:
to keep things more easy i will split the type of products but overal the question is the same
How exactly work this UV scripts??
1 - UV SWAP
https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-3-uv-swap-male-and-female-base
https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-8-uv-swap-male-and-female-base
2 - Legacy UVS for genesis 8(and others genesis)
https://www.daz3d.com/legacy-uvs-for-genesis-8-genesis-2-male-michael-5-and-michael-6
https://www.daz3d.com/legacy-uvs-for-genesis-8-genesis-2-female
and others of the same.
ok the question again is how they work, i means they change the 3d model uv or texture to match the "new uv"??? i means in way it work outside the daz??, for exemple if i use the genesis 3 female uv in a genesis 3 male and use the uv swap the final result can be exported outside daz like a normal texture or it goes like a "shell"(second mesh based on the original mesh) to match the original mesh(in this case the female) how exactly that things works?? if it's a sort of shell it can be exported to be used as a "replace texture"???(for peoples which already tried it).
This is more important for the uv swap because as it says, we have some amazing non human textures which normally are only one "gender which would be cool to have then being 2 genders and being able to use it outside DAZ.
it's for peoples which does have it, i would love to have a light here about it, if

Both of these groups of utilities change the UVs on the model so that they can use textures designed for other models. The UVs are co-ordinates on the model which correspond to positions on the textures so they fit correctly together.
So if you want to put a Genesis 3 Male texture on a Genesis 3 Female model, or a Genesis 2 texture on a Genesis 8 model you will need to change the UV co-ordinates on the model first - and that is what these utilities do. With the Legacy UVs, because the UV layouts between the older legacy models and the newer (post Genesis 3) models are radically different, a set of geografts is also needed to give an authentic result.
None of these products change the textures, they change the figure so that it can accept textures made for another figure.
The male/female UV swap basically provide an alternate UV set for the base figure mesh so the textures for the opposite gender work. So you should be able to export the "female figure with male UVs" just like you do for the regular female figure.
The legacy UVs by Cayman Studios are a bit different as there is an additional challenge to using pre-G3 textures with G3 or G8: the number of texture files used is different, so if you just provided for example an alternate G2F UV set for G3F then there are some G3F material zones where you'd need to use parts from 2 different texture files to cover the zone, which is not possible in DS. So you also need to alter the material zones so you can have a zone boundary where you need to change between texture files. But the G3F mesh doesn't have polygons in the right place for that. So the product provides geografts to add the needed polygons to G3F, alternate UVs for the rest of the mesh, and scripts to change material zones so that they match G2F.
To be honest I never tried exporting a figure with geografts so I don't know how well it works.
hmm interesting, this means which if i want to use it "outside" daz, i would need to export "1 type of character for each UV, i means if i want let's use it on unreal in a game and want my "male character to use both male and female textures" i would need to export 2 males characters one with the "normal male UV and another with the modified UV, then if the person choose to use the female texture i would need to switch from ther male normal mesh to the "male modified mesh"?? the same goes to the "old to new", this is how its work??? or maybe have a way to use both normal and modified uv in the same mesh???
thanks for the replay.
hmmm thanks, then that's means which i can use both male and female texture in the same mesh without need to export 2 different meshes (one for each UV), if it's like that then it's really a awesome tool to be used for my project which will help to have more "materials options".
I don't know if unreal engine supports meshes with several UV sets. If it does then you may be able to use a single mesh with several UVs for the "male/female of the same generation" case and just switch UVs depending on which texture you use.
For the legacy UVs case, the mesh of "G3F version which can use G2F textures" will be a little different from the base G3F mesh, so indeed you'd need to switch figure when switching UVs.
hmm thanks, really interesting, i will try to check and find if it can be done, otherwise it will be like the legacy uvs i would need to have 2 meshes, which i do feel while is perfect doable and fine it can be a lot of troublesome, specially if the character have cloth customization, it can be some trouble.
hello guys to not keep creating "new threads i will use this one since it's more neutral, here's the deal:
i'm thinking in buy this product:
https://www.daz3d.com/creature-creator-add-ons-for-genesis-2-female-s
for peoples which have it, it comes with the "fur" texture for the body??? or just for tails and legs??? if texture just for the "extra limbs" where i can find the "body texture??? it was for promo only and i had to create??
now the next question
since i have that product:
https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-2-cross-figure-resource-kit
and it allowe me to convert that "extra limbs" to be usable by both male and female, then i can have any real reason to buy this one
https://www.daz3d.com/creature-creator-add-ons-for-genesis-2-male-s
it give something extra??? or it's the same and even the texture are the same, if all the same then i would not need to buy this one if all i need is just convert stuffs and even "morphs can be created for male and female if needed, i've did that for reptilian 6 and was able to create a "female version" perfect using, the cross-figure and the rigg corrector from zev0 and since both "genesis 2 male and female share the same "body" UVs then i can use any texture from both side to work on it, then really have any deal in buy that "male specific stuffs??
those creature creator add-ons are as cheap as i've ever seen them right now--discounted 84% (!) and costing just a little more than three and a half dollars apiece.
you might want to consider just picking them both up now, if you can. discounts like that don't generally last long around here.
j
the problem is not the price, but the utility, if the male version is exactly the same as the female just converted to male (even same textures)and i have a tool to convert female to male, then really don't make sense to buy it even if its really cheap, because i will be basically paying 2 times for the same thing, that is what i means.
I don't have those but they look like geografts, which are figure specific, and some of those add-ons like the tails certainly don't have standard bones. I rather doubt they'd convert easily to the opposite gender.
well understand, but as i told i was able to make a "female" reptilian just using the script and some "edited morphs" it worked really perfect here's the exemple:
both leg and tails where only for male i just used the script and it become "unisex and full working then i just needed to do the trick to transform the reptilian body to a "female morph".
both leg and tail bones works perfect for both gender no issue here.
here she relaxing with her "swinsuit" lol
i really loved make that, this was really the most "worth bought ever for me".
another question again for peoples which do have that products:
https://www.daz3d.com/lorelei-mertail-for-genesis-2-female-s
https://www.daz3d.com/lil-mermaid-bundle
what would be the better for a "mermaid character??? i measn in poly account while the "more realistic does look like having more "polygons" how much "more it can be???, if not that big deal then it would be better than the cartoon one, which one you like more in case you have both if having only one you like it??? it poly account how much it have??
G2F and G2M are the same mesh, and so geografts for one can be used by the other as long as they are converting using the cross figure resource kit.
This can not be done with Genesis 3 and 8, as the male and female models use different meshes.
ok i've finally bought the product:
https://www.daz3d.com/creature-creator-add-ons-for-genesis-2-female-s
and to be honest i really got disappointed, because it don't include the "body textures" in the promo images, they where supposed to have told it, the body textures are coming from:
https://www.daz3d.com/creature-creator-for-genesis-2-female-s
this made me feel disappointed and a little "cheated" because i feel like they are selling 2 things which where supposed to be "in the same pack", because the "addon" one is really a complement to the first one, because both ears and some legs does need you to have the second one to proper work, otherwise some parts of it would look really weird like the "cat ears" if you don't have the second, then that product was supposed to have a "requeriment this product" warn, it really annoyed me, now i'm stuck with a product where i need to wait for another good sale to buy the other one to have it proper working.
they where supposed to provide at last the "basic body textures", specially because of leggs and tails, if they wanted to sell the addon, as a sort of stand alone as it looked like, they don't need to include the morphs but at last the body textures would be needed, while the tails, leggs and horns themselfs are fine really the fact which they don't offer the body texture aswell really make me feel cheated on that stuff because of the lack of proper info and warns, that is my critic on that product.
Now i'm thinking in maybe ask for a refund because i really feel cheated on that one.
